We found Puerto Rico dGC to be a pleasant town, which benefits from much more sun than the north of the island we found (can be raining up North but sunny down south).
Yes, the architecture could be much better, but that is like every resort on Gran Canaria - what happens when property developers rule.
The harbour is attractive with some reasonable restaurants and two lovely informal ones on either end of the harbour (Vivaldi on the Eastern End and in the west - forgot name) it's the only one right on the harbour.
PR has a big shopping mall which I am sure shoppers will delight in, but as we hate shopping... The hypermarket is great.
We had a hired car, but the bus service seemed to go everywhere on the island. It can get crowded to popular places like Puerto Mogan (PM is massively over developed, very crowded and the market by the bus station is rubbish - avoid market days!). There is a ferry service to PM which we used on the return trip. It was a very pleasant trip; we used it to go south one day, just for the ride.
The downside is it is a long journey to get to the inland towns which are further north. As the crow flies, very short, but you have a choice of small scenic roads - loads of hairpins and some impassable if raining - or a long diversion trip up the motorway and still the small roads at the end. Plan 1.5 - 2 hours each way if driving.
Overall PR was probably the nicest resort we saw. We wouldn't go back to Gran Canaria, much prefer Lanzarote, but we had a good time; glad we went and pleased we chose Puerto Rico.

I like Puerto Rico ..
I like Puerto Rico .. This was my 31st visit so that speaks for itself
The weather is always good here in January There are a lot of steps so it would be unsuitable for people with mobility issues. The restaurants I would recommend are El Gaitero San Miguel Pinocchio
Big Daddy’s Don Quixote I would avoid staying at Porto Bello apartments

Main marina and surrounding area itself is ok but nothing to write home about .there are shops along the marina and they are rip off . My wife asked for a standard packet of paracetamol was €11.80 so she obviously didn’t purchase and bought them elsewhere for under €4.
We stayed outside of the main area in Gloria palace hotel which was fabulous

Lovely beach and a pleasant walk to Playa de Amores along a promenade. There are also 3 shopping centres beyond The Angry Birds adventure park with masses of shops, supermarkets and restaurants. The newest one Mogan Mall which has free buses from Maspalomas wasn't very busy but has free Wi-Fi. We also watched three young men playing in an impromptu group knocking out some lovely music. Funnily they were playing on the edge of town so weren't seen by many people. Pity really.

The property was clean modern and spacious, bigger than it looks in the pictures everything you need in the villa from pots pans every cooking accessory you need , dishwasher also a bonus , washing machine , tumble drier. Getting a taxi was also not a problem you can ring the Golf resort hotel 24/7 could get a taxi within a few mins straight to your villa to collect you for 6 people normally around 6-7!euros and is literally 2 mins to Puerto Rico centre , also a Spar shop around the corner from the villas with reasonable prices .
We liked the view over the sea, common pool very good, food extraordinarily good with a lot of variety for breakfast and dinner. Personnel very friendly, rooms were spacious, with a little kitchen. It was very clean and no sign of cockroaches as other people mentioned.
It's true that the hotel is far away from the beach , positioned on a high hill, but taxis are only 4-5 euros, so its not that big of a deal.
Down on the beach, there are many water activities that can be done, including jet ski, para sailing scuba diving.
Perfect location - a stunning view on the ocean from the cliff and elevators to bring you to the seaside. Once you’re down, it is only a couple of minutes in both directions (Puerto Rico & Amadores) to get to the beach, marina and shops. Food - a lot of choice, fresh and changing. The hotel itself - huge but nice. Infinity pools were one of the best spots to spend time for me. Very friendly and helpful staff. Also, the hotel is pet-friendly and everyone was very nice to my dog there :)
This was my second stay at Bahia Blanca and like before, I love it!. The view is breathtaking from the balcony - just sitting out in the morning with a coffee is so relaxing! The apartment had very thing you need for your vacation. The balcony is very private and spacious - room for both table and sun beds. You can use the warmup pool or choice between to beaches -Puerto rico and Amadores. We liked Amadores better since it is with white sand and very clean.
Everything was perfect 🙂hotel is fully renovated🙂 food is amazing better like other hotels , view on the sea and on the beach is from any place on hotel because is on the hill sun is all day without shadow evening sunset 🙂 all inclusive perfect lots of choice, for kids many attractions like in water park , because is high lot's of steps but taxi is always outside and for health is grate use steps. Highly recommended we back again for sure.😉
Room / apartment was large and really nice with everything needed in there. Balcony was also decent size. Hotel was beautiful with two amazing pool areas and the location was great. Just around the corner from supermarket, pharmacy and loads of pubs. Food was really good, great selection every meals and all staff was very friendly. Loads of books in the lobby in many different languages.
Stunning hotel, super comfy beds, very friendly & helpful employees, immaculately clean & tidy, beautiful views, perfect pool/hot tub & Jacuzzi and convenient pool bar, very tasty and fully stocked breakfast/lunch, regardless of needs/wants. Parking available, very safe and secure, spacious rooms, quiet area, shops/bars/restaurants within easy reach by foot.
Very friendly staff, clean, good location (near restaurants, beach, shop - though I was not a fan of Puerto Rico itself which was a little too 'touristy', but that has nothing to do with the hotel :-))... Lived up to our expectations.
The hot tubs were nice, though not superhot, but perfect to cool down without being too cold on a sunny winters day!
Second visit back to this hotel, it's that good! This time we visited with friends who loved it as much as we do. Great views over Amadores, everything you need in the apartment and great service. Bong who runs the beach bar is a delight, he goes out of his way for the guests. Re-booked for next year whilst we were still there.
The location was great and very central, the beach is reachable by foot, the shopping malls are easy reachable and if you wanna explore the night life of puerto rico, you are basically in it. The swimming pool is also a very nice plus! We had a great time over the christmas holidays.
The location was very convenient (shortened path to the beach, everything in walking distance), free parking, big and comfortable rooms, amazing pool area and pool bar. There was also a little store in a hotel to buy groceries.
location is perfect for both Amadores beach and Puerto Rico shopping centre.
apartments are always clean and well
equipped.
