A very nice, walkable, small town. A great beach with simple food/bar but also flysch rock formations. Several excellent hikes right from town center. A harbor and breakwater. Decent food and five minute drive from Getaria with fabulous grilled seafood both casual and Michelin class.

Good centre for visiting San Sebastian and walking in surrounding countryside. Great safe sandy beach with very nice
Restaurant and bar.
Was disappointed with the lack of restaurants open, no doubt this Is due to health restrictions due to virus.

Zumaia sits on the Camino del Norte and GR 121 walking routes. The coastal scenery to both sides of the estuary is stunning. The town itself is pleasantly situated on the west side of the estuary and is well served with restaurants and small bars serving the local 'pinxos'. This would make a very good central location for more extensive tours of the region while avoiding the bustle of either San Sebastian or Bilbao. The narrow gauge Euskotren rail network has regular and economically priced services along the coast. You can forget the car and 'let the train take the strain'.

A lovely little town with a great beach.
A lovely little town with a great beach. The flysch are fascinating to look at. There are plenty of coastal walks and you can take a boat trip to see the coast.
You can take trains and buses to San Sebastián if you want to explore further afield.
The whole coast is beautiful.

We were there to photograph the unique Flysch rocks on the coast; other love it for sun and surfing. The beach looked like it would be great for swimming in summer, with a wide crescent and a long stretch of shallow water to play in. Too many restaurants were closed for vacations or pre-season timing to give a fair evaluation of the dining options, but we can recommend the gin tonics at a bar just off the public square.
Perfect location right next to center; very clean, simple, everything felt brand new. A true 3BR apartment, kitchen, living, 2 baths with clothes washer and two balconies to enjoy or hang your clothes to dry. Friendly coffee shop and grocery downstairs. Super reasonable price. Free parking across the street. We understood we were the first Americans to stay here so this is a shout out to other Americans: You won't find a better place at this price point. Very friendly, responsive and warm host. We loved being in Zumaia.
We are trekking through Spain and booked this hotel last minute. Found it without a problem and were quite pleased. It is extremely clean and bright and well appointed. Room was large with a sitting area and terrace to enjoy the afternoon sun. Breakfast area was beautiful and everything you would need is provided. The staff was particularly helpful, the girl at the front desk assisted us in ordering a pizza, which was delicious......hope you like tuna....
We were very tired peregrinos, having recently stayed at a pleasant, but very squeezy and stuffy, inside room in a 2 star hotel in San Sebastian. The Zumaia Hotel had space, wide and comfortable beds, and plenty of light and access to fresh air. Huge contrast. Everything worked and was well cared for. Bar below was convenient, Eroski market almost next door. Wonderful! Breakfast excellent and quick delicious coffees. I would stay again.
The yacht is located in the marina, but Miguel can take you out on a trip when requested. Miguel is friendly and patient and the area is beautiful. You can make the trip as long or as short as you want. When one of us got seasick, Miguel returned to the marina straight away.
You spend the evening underneath the stars on deck and you wake up in the middle of the marina. Definitely something different than a luxury hotel, but we loved it!
We loved this place. The location can't be beat - a beautiful spot just 5 minutes from downtown Zumaia with all of its amenities. And the host Annili (may be spelled wrong) was outstanding. She made sure that we were comfortable, provided us tons of information on the area, and was available anytime we had a question or needed a dinner reservation.
Staying in a hotel next to such a special and wonderful natural scenery is a great experience in my life. The large jacuzzi and spa are very nice. Although it's a great place to stay for a full holiday, the area is short on accommodation and expensive for many people walking Spain's famous Camino del Norte route. It's a burdensome price
I loved everything. The host is super nice, the rooms are nice and spacious and warm, there is not much noise outside, and you can see the sea. The bed was super comfy, my best nights of sleep for months! Don't forget to spend a whole day hiking the GR-121 route to Deba, the route starts very close to the hotel and you will love it.
Very nice and helpful staff. Sorted out a small problem we had in the room straightaway and recommended good restaurants. Room was very spacious and had the extra bonus of a small kitchen with hob, microwave and fridge. Advantage of parking on site but you had to pay 12 euros a day.
very careful and detailed design. beautiful balcony room with a side view of the sea. the introductory welcome to Zumaya and the hotel helped us to get the absolute most out of our enroute stay. super location near a walk, and the beach and the town.
No breakfast included.
I was angry and insecure when arriving at the hotel as we could not get into the building and no-one was available to greet us.
After a few minutes the matter was resolved but the situation should not have occurred.
Amazing chap at reception, we do not remember his name, but he is a genuine asset for the hotel. Thank you for the hospitality.
I saw a few negative comments about the breakfast but this was excellent with traditional Spanish item.
Comfortable bed and very clean room
very good breakfast
parking on site and elevator in parking garage
Wonderful location to visit beach
Best hotel except no information on approach
Very clean and spacious room. Comfortable bed, great shower. We were upgraded to the deluxe room. The staff was very kind! Definitely more than a 2 star hotel
