We had a wonderful time staying here. The owners were extremely kind and welcoming. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The beds were some of the most comfortable beds our group had slept on during our 3 week trip to Spain. The food was incredible- they thought of every detail. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to other travelers.

The hotel is a wonderful old stone villa centrally located in a tiny little town where locals gather nightly at the small attached bar. Excellent food is sold in the bar and the small restaurant). It is perfectly situated to enable wine tasting throughout the La Rioja region. If you want to feel more like a local than a tourist, stay here and hang with the locals. Be sure to open the shutters to hear the morning symphony of birds chirping, the church bells ringing, and the sounds of locals passing by in the streets and filling water from the fountain across the street. It was a wonderful experience made so warm and inviting by the staff.

The building is a charmingly renovated historic town house, in excellent condition. The room was spacious, with a comfy bed, and the bathroom is roomy and well-lit. The place is run by a family, all very welcoming and friendly. The food was exquisite, worthy of an upscale restaurant. Very well located in the middle of the wine region of La Rioja Alavesa, perfect for road trips in search of the best wineries of the region.

Loved the old world charm of this hotel, staying in the Rioja region and a gorgeous village. The bar man was absolutely awesome and tried so hard with limited English. The food was good and the breakfast huge. Easy parking on the property. But the wine was by far the best thing, so good, local and at 1€ a glass too good to refuse. Really enjoyed our stay here.

Villa de Abalos is in a very small village, centrally located in the La Rioja region, and easily accessible to all major destinations in the region. The village is very quaint and charming. We loved the hike we took from the hotel door (no driving needed) up into the mountains above the village, through vineyards in the lower elevations, then into steeper terrain higher up.
