Au Bellefleur is a special and not an average Bed & Breakfast. We are officially registered as a Micro-Entreprise, beware of the 'cowboys'. We are in Sigogne on the edge of a lively village overlooking the vineyards with about 1000 inhabitants and a stone’s throw from Cognac. We have already drunk many glasses of Pineau des Charentes (the local aperitif) with our mostly international guests in our garden or by the fireplace. Hospitality and conviviality are our top priority and we do everything to give you a pleasant stay. Because of this we already have many returning guests and isn’t that the best compliment? We also hope to welcome you in our Chambres d’hôtes and give you the service of a hotel with the personal atmosphere of a B & B.
We are an international family, Darren (Englishman), an IT Project Manager works for himself is a lot en-route within Europe and in the weekend you will find him in his workshop where he gives a new destination to (old) wood. Franca (Dutch) has worked for many years for a multinational within Marketing; you can leave organization and creativity to her. And then Fleur, our multilingual teen-ager who studies Communication in Bordeaux, to whom we named our B & B.
On the river Charente, Jarnac is the home to the house of the world famous Courvoisier Cognac distiller which is well worth a visit. You can also hire canoes if you are feeling energetic or let the small pleasure boat take you on a short guided tour of the Charente. On the Ile de Madame you will find a lovely small park and an open air swimming-pool. Cognac also on the Charente and home to more Cognac distillers such as Hennessey, the tour of Otard is well worth doing. New: The Indigo Tower (owned by Martell) with a rooftop bar is a must! Cognac has a cosy centre with shops and terraces. For those more serious about golf there is an 18 hole championship golf course, with a lovely restaurant open to non-members with a fantastic terrace overlooking the course. The Etapes de Cognac, offer 4 different routes around the Cognac area with 4 different themes. Culture, Cathedral, Shops, etc. you can find in Angoulême, the capital of the Charente. The Atlantic Ocean with lovely sandy beaches can be reached within 1 hour from us. Also local brocantes are very popular.
