great location, nice workers at the hotel, comfortable room
CanadaThe Balzac is a wonderful, nostalgic hotel that might come out of a film by Francis Truffaut, no frills but great atmosphere and cheerful host evoking the aesthetic of the old town around it. It's marvelous to step out the door and see the town's finest buildings and monuments on the same street a few feet away. At night the town bells toll every hour a block away, for us a magic evocation of being in old Europe. Breakfast was in the lobby with window seat looking out at the cobbled street. It was the first night of our trip and a magical one.

NetherlandsHotel Balzac is ideally located at the top of Fougères, we were a one-minute walk from a plaza with some nice bars, cafes, and restaurants. We received a perfect welcome from staff who were very patient with our broken French. I would recommend staying here and will visit again.
