We had a wonderful stay at the double locks. Very friendly owners, who were very supportive when we had questions. The house is perfectly situated at the lake with private access and a rowing boat to use. It's only a short walk to the town centre, where bakery, grocery shop and lots and lots of creperies are available. Definetly worth a longer stay!

Relax, unwind and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of our gorgeous lakeside 5-bedroomed holiday home. The lovely garden has many places to sit and enjoy the view of the heart-shaped Huelgoat lake. Steps through a stone wall lead to our own private jetty. The spacious bright living room has a large fireplace, couch, snuggle chairs & TV. An adjoining dining room overlooks the lake and leads to the garden. The large kitchen has a 5-ring stove, fan oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer, a good selection of plates, pots, pans etc plus tea/coffee-making supplies and basic store cupboard. The first floor has 3 double bedrooms (two with ensuite bathroom, one with lake view), a generous family bathroom plus a toilet/washroom. The top floor has a double bedroom with en suite and a single room with lake view, plus a roomy bathroom. Double Locks is an elegant welcoming home ideal for a holiday or family occasion – anniversary, birthday or wedding. Huelgoat is a pretty, old village with a watermill in beautiful countryside, with lots of amazing sights right on the doorstep. It’s perfect for walkers, hikers, cyclists, fishers, sightseers, family holidays or just to come and relax.
Andy and I saw Double Locks and fell in love with the house. Its lakeside setting, lovely garden and old feeling make us relax like nowhere else. We hope you enjoy the magic of Huelgoat as much as we do.
Double Locks is located in the beautiful market town of Huelgoat, a hidden gem in Brittany, North West France. A lovely old watermill stands at one end of Huelgoat’s stunning 15-hectare lake, built in the 18th century to help extract silver lead. Here you can take a path through the giant boulders, caves, streams and waterfalls of ‘The Chaos’ and an amazing secret enchanted forest of 600 hectares. It has inspired many myths, such as that the huge rocks were thrown there by a grumpy Gargantuara to complain about the horrible porridge he was served! Venture a little deeper to find an outdoor theatre, La Roche Tremblante’ and The Mushroom. Huelgoat is in the Parc d'Amorique, the centre of Finistere, surrounded by the dramatic Monts d'Arree, with miles of pathways through lush countryside. The name Huelgoat comes from Breton words 'Huel' (High) and 'goat' (wood or forest) meaning 'The High Forest'. Lovely beaches are 40 minutes away with four very different coastlines accessible in an hour. Nearby are the standing stones at Le Cloitre and Kerampleulven, the botanic gardens 'Jardin de l'Argoat' and 'Les Arbres due Monde'.
