Mr and Mrs Sharma were very warm and friendly. Their house is very welcoming and decorated with a lot of taste. Breakfast was out of this world.

An unusual French City in that the Flemish background is very apparent. The old part is attractive but the newer part is not an area that I wanted to walk into. The belfry is magnificent. There are not that many good restaurants but being close to Belgium there is more decent beer than you could possibly drink in a few days. Nice enough for 2 days but no more.

Charming city. Lovely river/canal area.
Charming city. Lovely river/canal area. Quiet and not touristy. The Town Hall is a beautiful building. Well worth a stop. We ate at the Le Soleil De Tunis restaurant - North Africans cuisine. Lovely friendly place. Recommended.
If you have to stay in Douai then I thoroughly recommend Les Foulons. In the old part of the town and very close to bars and restaurants.
I stayed in the Mariner's Room. Full of character and comfortable.
An excellent continental breakfast, I requested decaf coffee and it was available. Options include bread, croissant, 3 wonderful jams, yoghurt, prepared fruit (caramelised apples one day), butter, a small selection of cheese and cold meat and freshly prepared scrambled eggs.
Comfortable small hotel within walking distance (20 mins) of Douai Centre. Great for an overnight stop on route for Calais. Recently tastefully refurbished. Receptionist friendly and helpful, who spoke good English. Private fenced car park. Good value for money.
Douai is an interesting town, with a famous Belfry in the Marie. We were there in early July when they celebrate the town with fairs and entertainment featuring the family of ‘Giants’
It is close to the centre of Douai and thus ticks that box. It is also in a pleasant and quiet square. Our room costs £98 a night which is cheap by today's standards. This was during the rugby World Cup when most hotels were profiteering by charging exorbitant prices of 2-4 times true cost, so that was a plus point and was why I chose this hotel over others.
We were looking for a clean, basic stopover for the night and this hotel fit the bill. We did not want to be in the town centre as we were driving out the next morning. Breakfast the next morning was 10 Euro/person. It offered a good variety. The staff were friendly and helpful. Even though we did not speak French we figured everything out.
All the staff were very nice.
And when we paid the bill and explain the negative points of the room the Manager took our comments in really good part.
And said we had the worst room in the hotel which I thought was incredible honest. We were traveling with our dog so sometimes you do get a more shabby room which we understand.
The flat is really nice, very clean. You can find the flat on one of the main street of Douai and to reach the main square it is like 8min by foot. There is always a parking space available in the inner yard witch is not overcrowded. The host provides with complimentary coffee capsules, laundry capsules, towels.
This property is in a very safe and quite area of Douai close to the centre , supermarket and garage . One of the best places I have stayed in, in a long time ( 20 nights ) . The room and bathroom were spotless with wifi , tv , fridge and hotplate for cooking . Would stay here again . Brilliant.

Charming hotel with stylish rooms in an urban street where you would not expect such a wonderful place. Attractive “castle-feeling” with friendly hosts. Free parking in the garden.
