We loved the entire experience. Staying at Castel St-Leonard is like time-travel into a classical storybook adventure. Charles introduced us to the Chateau with a short history tour of the common areas on the main floor and then accompanied us to our rooms. Each private room was elegantly decorated with furniture and artwork from former ages, yet backed up with modern conveniences. Our stay in the spacious main suite was very comfortable with a large bed and very nice bath with shower. Charles ensured we started each day with a light breakfast of cereal, fresh fruit, juice, and pastries.

Charming stay in a local person's Historic home.
The home is actually built into the old ramparts of the old village.

The museum telling the story of French civilians during WWII - very moving. You could buy an English handheld that gave you all the information although the exhibits were in both French and English.
William The Conqueror Castle - again an excellent exhibition in both French and English. Handheld tablet let you see all the rooms as they would have been used and there were holograms of the historical kings and queens who had lived there.

A lovely town, we enjoyed walking around and reading about the WWII history of the town. We had a nice dinner at one of the many restaurants and visited Château de Falaise (William the Conquerer's castle). This castle has one of the very best tour experiences we've had. We went early and beat the busloads of tourists that arrived as we were leaving, so we almost had the place to ourselves for our self-guided tour. It was a quick overnight stop for us, but one we're very glad that we made!

A fantastic castle, where William the Conqueror was born and raised. There was a great deal of World War 2nd history. The old part of the city was very interesting. We were only there for an afternoon and evening, but what we saw, made us want to return.

This town was almost completely destroyed during the allied attack from Normandy beaches but a few buildings remain. William the Conquerors castle is worth a visit as are the two large churches and museum dedicated to world war 2.
Be prepared to be disappointed at the anti British sentiment on the posters in the church beside William’s castle commenting on the liberation of the town and its consequential destruction.

We booked two nights so that we could visit the castle - well worth the visit, even on a rainy, windy day as most of it was inside the castle. Everything was in dual language so we didn't miss any information. There are many steep stairs to climb, right from the start. I was so glad I wore my boots that day. The church next to the castle was the oldest one that I have visited- built in 850.
There were many restaurants in the town right next to the castle. No need for a car here, everything is so close. Just park up and walk.
Our favourite restaurant was "Restaurant la citadelle" 24, Rue Saint-Gervaise. There were many others too which were very good.
How wonderful to arrive at this beautiful guest house, hidden behind the large entrance doors in Falaise!
We received a warm and friendly welcome from the owners, who clearly love sharing their beautiful home with visitors to this historic town.
Our thoughtfully decorated room was exceptionally clean and comfortable and we enjoyed a peaceful nights sleep.
Breakfast was a delight and included freshly baked bread and a selection of home made jams. We highly recommend a stay at La Maison Des Buis!
A very good stop-over directly opposite a chateau (now used as workshops for artists in residence) on the N158 with parking immediately outside. The Hotel features a Michelin starred restaurant and, as you would expect, the breakfast (Euro10 pp) was outstanding. The bedroom itself was very neat and well-designed. It was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, remaining to accommodate our late-night arrival.
What a fabulous place to stay in Falaise !! The owner Charles is an excellent host, the grand house is perfect for any length of stay being located in the town centre with great views of the park, huge comfortable rooms in the antique style of a Chateau, Its real luxury !!
Breakfast was superb & the bonus of secure car parking behind lockable gates.
I have stayed here before, which was why I booked Castel St L.eonard. For me, the accomodation is perfect. In the very centre of Falaise, with private parking for the car, it is a slice of old world luxury presided over by a perfect host. Superbly furnished, full of atmosphere, with true comfort and a very good breakfast.
We had a lovely stay and excellent breakfast with fresh croissants.
The parking is secure and provides easy access to the building. The attention for detail and great service makes this bnb definitely a place to consider when in Falaise.
A very nice hotel. We ate in the restaurant and the food was very tasty. Its walking distance to the town (20mins ish)
Beds were very comfortable. The hotel also had a lovely bar area with a pool table.
