This property is lovely! Our room was spacious and much more like a small apartment then a simple room. It was very clean and comfortable, and very quiet for sleeping. The property owner was extremely welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Our host also recommended a wonderful restaurant within walking distance to the property. Breakfast was served at our leisure, prepared in the apartment by our host. We highly recommend this unique property.

United KingdomI always love returning to wonderful Maison Mathilde! Although the weather was grim (December!) the warm welcome and cosy rooms quickly made up for that! Michel made a point of providing an enormous breakfast and even drove me to my meeting when the taxi was blocked by a demonstration! The apartment is delightful - I love the deep fluffy carpet and the view of the beautiful old church beyond the garden. I also noticed a new addition to the family of rabbits roaming around the garden! The location is also very handy for visiting the attractive old part of town - with many charming shops and restaurants. I can highly recommend Maison Mathilde as one of the most unusual and delightful places to stay in Valenciennes.
