Get away from it all and enjoy a relaxing holiday or a short break in the heart of the French countryside. Le Hutereau is a 400 year old former farm which has been converted into a main house and three holiday cottages. We live on site, in the old farm house and are always available to provide local knowledge and advice to help you make the most of your holiday in the Mayenne. Heated outdoor swimming pool available from May to October.
Le Hutereau is ideally situated in the north of the Mayenne department, just 15 km south of Normandy and 10 km from the border with Brittany. The local town, Saint-Denis-de-Gastines is a small village in the heart of the French countryside. There are numerous picturesque medieval towns and villages to visit and explore within a shore distance : Vitré. Fougères, Domfront, Fontaine Danielle and Saint Suzanne are just a few. There are several beautiful gardens nearby which are open to the public. The closest is Les Renauldies which is only 3 Km away. Due to its rural location, Le Hutereau is an ideal place for bird watching, reading a book or simply relaxing in the peace and quiet of the countryside. Because of the lack of light pollution, it is also an excellent location for stargazing. Furthermore you will be able to travel on roads without traffic jams. The nearest boulangerie, bank, cafe, bar and restaurant can be found just five minutes away in Saint-Denis-de-Gastines. You will also have the opportunity to visit a different local market every day of the week. For those who like to browse through antique furniture and knick-knacks, we have antique shops and brocantes.
