Overall, the region was beautiful and there are many lovely towns to visit and much history in the area. Sarlat has a recently updated town square that is quite beautiful. It’s such a beautiful city and it has wonderful things to explore within the walls. The whole region around Sarlat is beautiful. Sarlat is the perfect place to rest after a long day exploring other small towns or caves in this gorgeous region. We could have spent two weeks here easily. Many places to dine, seemingly pretty much the same menus everywhere except in a couple of higher end restaurants. It is hilly. Politeness and a smile opens many doors, I don't speak French well, but was very pleased at how friendly and polite the people were. I mean all the people not just the ones that are getting some financial benefit from you. Basically, be nice, don't be an ass, and you won't get treated like one. Take a moment to look at how many men these small towns lost during WWI, must have been devistating.

Christine was an excellent hostess and always available to accommodate us. We really enjoyed our stay in Sarlat and would return again to stay in this accommodation. The apartment provided an excellent “home base” for us to explore the nearby Dordogne area.
