Great market town, the Saturday market held in the cobbled square was in full swing and very well attended.
Richmond is convenient for the stunning North Yorkshire Dales.
Has its own ruined castle and the beautiful river Swale runs through Richmond, lots of independent shops and the most fabulous fish and chips are to be had from the shop in the middle of the square …they are cooked in dripping and were delicious.
Lovely town to visit

Lovely market town, lots of places to eat and drink, some cheap shops to rummage around, ate at Elixir for lunch, lovely food and huge portions. In the evening we ate in Sunitras, beautiful Thai food. Lovely pleasant place to stay for the weekend. We stayed at the Buck Inn, cheap and cheerful, lovely breakfast.

Richmond has a busy town centre with a variety of shops & places to eat. We found a lovely little cafe that also did gluten free food for me. Take the parking disk provided in the cottage as you will need this to park in the town centre. We also visited the castle, lots to see here, including an indoor collection/display, you do need to be quite fit to get around the castle, there's alot of walking on uneven ground/grass & lots of steps too. We hope to return to Richmond in the future, it's a lovely, old town.

Richmond is a lovely market town, with a ruined Norman castle, dating from the earliest days of the Norman conquest, seat of the Earls of Richmond, the last being Henry VII, before he elevated it to a Dukedom.
There is also a Georgian Theatre, which has live performances throughout the year.
Richmond is at the entrance to Swaledale and there are many walks, including the coast to coast walk that pass through Richmond or close by.

Parking is a nightmare, having to move car to a different street every 2hrs between 0800 and 1800.
Loads of pubs all selling the same beer, no variation between pubs, best pint and food in weatherspoons, in my opinion
What a lovely hotel. Recently refurbished to the highest quality it was an aesthetic delight to stay in. And such a beautiful period building. It was extremely hot when we stayed but the hotel found us a wonderful dyson fan that made it possible to relax: lovely. The bed was a mile wide, the shower generous with good water pressure and four - yes FOUR - different shower heads. The service was outstanding. Really 12 our of 10. I would heartily recommend the hotel.
Gill was extremely helpful and friendly. An excellent English breakfast was served, our room was huge with tea/coffee etc plus wardrobe in a room off the bedroom and another room with the ensuite bathroom. It was very quiet and we enjoyed a lovely view from our room. Richmond was less than a mile I would say and very easy to get to in the car. If we are in the area again, we will definitely book Low Gingerfield Farm.
Hotel like comfort in a period quaint cottage. Thoughtful touches everywhere with local decorations. Lots of info on hand. Welcome basket was very welcome indeed! The shower was very powerful and the beds comfortable. Location superb with very short walk to town (steep though) and just by the riverside with Richmond's waterfalls. Very pretty town and a pretty cottage. Great value for money. 100% would recommend.
A really lovely hotel with very welcoming staff and set in a great location right on the market square. There were lots of nice little touches like the handwritten note in our room welcoming us, details of what to do in the area, great toiletries, a bath tray with a book reading frame and a small rubber duck, and even a wooden tic tac toe game in the room. Breakfast was included and was very good.
The location of the house is great, you can walk (uphill) into Richmond, and there are plenty of places round about in Yorkshire to visit. We were 3 couples and really liked having 3 double bedrooms each with its own bathroom - in fact there is a surfeit of bathrooms, two more in addition to the 3 ensuites! The lounge area and dining table were both comfortable to hang out in.
I travelled to Richmond with my wife and dog. The hotel has been tastefully renovated and our room was fantastic.
The staff were so friendly and were pleased to help, and our dog was spoiled the whole weekend with treats.
The breakfast was excellent and our meal on Friday evening was also delicious.
If you are visiting the area , I could not recommend the highly enough.
Lovely breakfast.
Room looked dated on arrival but had absolutely everything we needed and was very clean. Beds comfy. Staff extremely helpful and accommodating. Would definately stay here again. Parking was an issue but this is the same all over Richmond and not the fault of the accommodation.
The cottage was great, very comfortable, with all that we needed and we were glad it was cool in the very hot weather! The location was good, about 10 minutes walk into the centre of Richmond. Parking was right outside the cottage and it was quiet, away from the main road.
The cottage was really cosy and in a great location - it had everything we needed for our weekend in Yorkshire! Also really appreciated the offer to set one of the bedroom up as a twin (which was helpful as we were a group of friends staying)
Lovely room with character. Bedroom and public rooms all clean and well presented. All staff helpful and obliging.Hotel is situated in a quiet part of Richmond. Nice hearing the church clock chiming during the day.
Lovely setting in the centre of Richmond. Have stayed several times at the Kings Head and generally meets my expectations. Nice breakfast choices. The hotel is a lovely environment and has a comfortable bar.
Really lovely cottage very close to Richmond Centre. Really loved the very comfortable bed and that the B&B was very cosy and small. Having breakfast served by the host gave it a really nice personal touch.
Great location next to Richmond's castle. It was a nice treat to be greeted with wine/beer upon our arrival. Amazing breakfast. Enjoyed the bathtub. The bed was firm and comfortable. The room was quiet.
The hotel was in a great position for Richmond Centre and the breakfast was good. Liked the idea of it been advertised with parking but there is no where near enough parking for the amount of rooms.
Really nice rooms and the staff were friendly and helpful as much as we needed them. Great location for any do's at the yorkshire wedding barn which is only 10 min walk away
