Lincoln was a powerhouse of medieval England and retains amazing monuments from that period. In the Uphill district is the castle built for William the Conqueror. Inside its an original copy of the Magna Carta and its ramparts offer fabulous city views. Across the cobbled square which houses the large Christmas market is huge Lincoln Cathedral whose unusual façade features 2 tall towers, while another at its centre overlooks the Bishop’s Palace.
Connecting the cathedral quarter with the Downhill district is aptly named Steep Hill, a narrow street lined with unique shops and historic buildings including the Jew’s House. Even older are the Roman Newport Arch, Mint Wall and the well on Bailgate.
This road slopes down to meet the River Witham at High Bridge, a stone-arched structure with a half-timbered building atop that is the oldest of its kind in England. Lincoln boat trips depart from the Brayford Pool just west.
Another monument is the 18th-century Ellis Mill, opposite the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. The Collection combines an archaeology museum and art gallery, while The Lawn has a conference centre and the Joseph Banks Conservatory, displaying artefacts he brought back from adventures with Captain Cook.
Booking.com’s Lincoln accommodation covers luxury waterfront hotels, guest houses by the university and cheap apartments near the train station.

We enjoyed rhe mixture of ancient and modern & it was great for a short break. We found the free tour of the guildhall very interesting, the castle is well worth a visit & what we could see of the cathedral without paying the £11 entrance charge is wonderful.
Parking was provided at property from midday on day of arrival until midday on departure day. Parking in city is very expensive but there is a park & ride which we used & found convenient .

A great city to explore on foot.
A great city to explore on foot. The Cathedral is amazing, dog friendly and very welcoming. Unfortunately the Castle isn't but there is plenty more to see and do. Wonderful selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. Perfect for a short break.

The hotel is situated well within the city, we used the local walk and ride buses to get to the Cathedral as it can be a long climb up the steep hill but walking back down brings you past some great pubs and into the main shopping area.

We met in Lincoln and love the place.
We met in Lincoln and love the place. One issue this time is that the Car Parks have an app for paying online but it has been phished by scammers, we had contact bank and cancel our cards so beware of this!
We have visited the cathedral a few times but this visit we joined the hour long free official tour. The guide was excellent, we learnt so much.
Recommend a visit to the High Bridge Cafe.
great location, very nice clean en-suite room. I stayed for a couple of nights over the weekend. very welcoming staff, the owner Darren was very considerate and was very helpful in efficiently getting through the contactless checkin. in my opinion this guest house is way better than the local chain hotels, has more character and is way cheaper in comparison. situated only about 15 mins walk from the city centre is an ideal location. would highly recommend and would definitely stay there again if I’m ever that way again!
Gorgeous location and view of cathedral from our room. We came to look round the university and the hotel was a perfect location to get to the university easily. Beautifully clean room , really comfy beds. My son really enjoyed the breakfast and was able to have as much as he wanted, for him this made the stay !! Would recommend and would stay again. My son will be starting Lincoln university in September so I'm sure we will be staying again soon.
The restaurant and bar areas were superb and really nicely laid out, good selection of food and drinks and places to work if needed. Quality of food and drinks was good too. Location of the hotel is great and even though parking was closed there is a multi storey yards away. The outlook from the hotel is really nice and the corridors and rooms are nice and clean, well lit and airy. A good base for visiting all aspects of Lincoln.
Everything, we asked for a room with a walk in shower and it was provided at no extra charge.
We had dinner at the hotel and it was most enjoyable.
After breakfast we had intended to visit elderly relatives in Lincoln prior to attending a funeral but we discovered the car had a flat tyre. While I had to stay with the car to await the AA my wife was well looked after by the hotel receptionist, who arranged tea and a taxi.
The room was clean, well appointed, comfortable and warm. Needed to book in at the pub rather than the hotel on arrival.
The pub next door was great for an evening meal, even though we hadn't pre booked. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not cheap, but was hearty.
For a night away, on the outskirts of Lincoln you could do much worse, we would go again.
Perfect place to relax, secluded and private.
Kitchen had everything it needed if you want to stay in and cook
So lovely and peaceful sitting and watching the birds and ducks over the lake!
No wifi so TV only had free view channels - Iv put this as a positive as that’s what this kind of trip is about!
15 minutes drive to Lincoln which is a lovely day out
I love everything about the apartment and the location. It was just a 2-minute walk to the Lincoln Castle. I was welcomed with a bottle of champagne and cakes. Everything was perfect. And yes, aside from the smart TV, there was a DVD with an array of movies to choose from, which brought back some nostalgic memories for me.
The rooms are just like home and the house is a great departure from the standard corporate hotels. Breakfast was outstanding as the owner prepared a wonderful meal. Local jams and relishes were outstanding. I had a nice walk the evening I arrived toward the down town area, interesting shops and local foods.
Had the carvery at dinner food was good. All the staff who were in contact with were excellent, particularly the lady on reception (who seemed to be working the whole of our three day stay). SHE WAS A DEFINITE ASSET TO THE HOTEL. Also dining room staff /chef were very obliging and according to our request.
Amazing terrace property. Garage parking, only 2 adults went but would easily sleep 6. Everything you need, very clean and comfortable. Much better than a hotel for a few nights. Coop near by. Walkable to town -15 mins
Museum of Lincolnshire life is across the street.
Would definitely stay again
This property is a terrific location just feet from Lincoln Cathedral and Castle. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and attentive and the restaurant is very good. I didn’t rate it excellent because the rooms are a bit small but otherwise a very nice hotel and a good value
Cheap and cheerful, clean rooms. Wonderful showers! And the windmill farm just next door for amazing all you can eat breakfast and Carverys! Can’t complain for a 1 night stay, Lincoln town about 15 minute drive away and free parking on site at the hotel which is perfect! Would stay again
Attractive location overlooking river /marina and good parking behind the hotel. The hotel was modern and bright with big, well-lit, comfortable, warm and clean rooms. Service was very good and the food, especially the breakfast, was very enjoyable with a good selection.
Nice all round. The receptionist couldn't do enough for us, unfortunately I didn't catch her name. The only issue we had was taxi's no fault of the hotel a little too far out the way if your planning to go on a boozy night round Lincoln must pre book taxi's
It was close to the city centre the staff were so friendly upon on arrival and when coming back after a visit to the city and leaving. Hotel was spot on from cleanliness and easy accessible to the room would definitely recommend and 100% comeback
Lovely hotel in a great location, all the staff were friendly, so helpful and professional. A very well run hotel. Breakfast was excellent.
Best place to stay in Lincoln town centre with parking too!
