Open-plan and open-minded, Cambridge is best known for universities dating to the 13th century. King’s College is the most popular, and its chapel choir is internationally famous. Although accessed from cobbled King’s Parade, it is best viewed from a punt on The Backs, the part of the River Cam behind.
Taking a flat bottomed punt in Cambridge is an institution and gives great views of Queen’s College Mathematical Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs at St John’s College. Upstream is Jesus Green, site of an outdoor pool and a fantastic beer festival. Next to this is Midsummer Common, a park home to the annual Strawberry Fair (and the occasional cow). Opposite are the college boathouses - get up early to see the rowers in action!
Cows also roam the Mill Pond meadow, where the river leads south to Grantchester, a quaint village with a lovely cafe. Places to eat in Cambridge include riverside restaurants and typical English pubs like The Eagle, drinking hole of DNA founders Watson & Crick.
Cambridge shopping options include a daily market (in Market Square), the Grafton Centre and the exclusive Grand Arcade, the latest addition. The Scott Polar Museum and free Fitzwilliam Museum are 2 of many fantastic Cambridge museums.
Stansted Airport is connected by train to the city’s accommodations choices on Booking.com.

Cambridge is a wonderful architectural town steeped in history with one of the most prestigious universities in England. The centre of Cambridge has a surprising number of green areas and the streets are attractive, many with cobble streets in the centre.
The market is thriving unlike so many in modern days and street food is highly recommended, there are a number of independent shops around as well as the expected high street stores but a new shop for me Soctopus was rather quirky.
Cambridge centre is easy enough to get around on foot though can be uneven underfoot in certain places, particularly with the cobbles, however, do expect plenty of people to be around, especially in the summer when numerous tourists flock to the area. If you don't mind the variable English weather then I would definitely recommend Cambridge in the winter/ early spring months when there are far fewer people around. The great thing is that the punts provide blankets when it is cold and some umbrellas when wet, the fudge kitchen you can prebook to have a go at making your own, a definite recommend for something different to do and you get to enjoy your hard work at the end trying some delicious fudge. There is plenty to do with a wide variety of museums. I particularly enjoy the Antarctic Museum and the natural history and fitzwilliam museum.

The staff were very helpful and kind.
The staff were very helpful and kind.
I felt the room was too small and the lighting awful ,and only one chair for two guests was not good.
I also feel there should be a choice for breakfast as to whether you have it or not.
I personally couldn't have it as I
was having surgery that day and as its so near Addenbrookes Hospital, I am sure plenty of patients need to stay there overnight before their planned surgery.

We visited Cambridge for a specific event at the Corn Exchange, and everything worked out for that as planned. However, we had a bit of time to spend in Cambridge before hand, but was a bit disappointed. We couldn't find the shops, and all the main sites seemed a long way from each other. Found it difficult to find where we needed to go and, although we asked passers-by, most didn't know either or didn't speak English. We used taxis and had some very lovely drivers. We were based near the railway station and couldn't find anywhere nice to eat lunch ... we gave up looking and ended up in Greggs!! It is very much a young person's city. Seemed a bit soul-less.

Fascinating, beautiful city, full of history, architecture, culture, entertainment, learning, gardens, river with punting, restaurants, pubs, shops. Bicycles everywhere. Travel by car is problematic with difficulty finding anywhere to park and car parks proving hard to use and very expensive. Make use of the Park and Ride circling the city edges. Well worth visiting for a few days.

Thoroughly enjoyed walking around Cambridge, it was a lot busier than I expected but that was mainly due to the number of students. Plenty of food outlets especially in the market square. Our only problem was we had our dog with us who wanted to be everywhere so would suggest not taking a dog unless they are extremely placid and not pulling your arms off!

So much to see and do.
So much to see and do. The University and the Wren library were incredible. History and so much more. The Old Bicycle Restaurant was so amazing, fab menu, also the Eagle Pub, full of history and excellent menu.
Transport options plentiful, although we preferred to walk.
Beautifully decorated, clean and new hotel. Comfortable room with a really nice bathroom and more amenities than expected. Breakfast was amazing. We ate in the hotel restaurant both nights as the food was great and our son particularly loved the kids' buffet. Fabulous pool. Good location, lovely walk along the river into the city centre. Super family friendly. We would 100% recommend and would definitely stay again if visiting Cambridge in future.
Stayed with a friend to shop/ eat/ gig and shop some more :) Location of this boutique hotel was excellent- only 5 mins walk from central Cambridge shopping areas. Room was quiet and very comfortable. Complimentary breakfast exceeded our expectations- was described as 'grab and go' but was a very substantial buffet with a great amount of choice! Staff were so friendly and keen to answer any questions, we will definitely be returning!
The two rooms we booked were in close proximity to one another as requested and to a very high standard in terms of comfort and cleanliness. The hotel is surrounded by a few shops and cafes and while a distance from Cambridge city centre the walk is pleasant and not too far away (there are taxis available at the station too). I would certainly recommend the hotel.
Ideally located just a short journey from Cambridge city centre. Bus stop directly across from the hotel entrance avoiding the difficulties that obtaining parking in the city brings. Fantastic reception staff and the hotel itself exuded modernity, cleanliness, wonderful facilities and utter charm amid a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Thank you, Hyatt Cambridge
The attic room is perfect for a single traveller on a budget who needs a place to stay for only a few days. Staff are very friendly, breakfast is amazing, and there is a bus stop right outside the hotel which makes travelling around Cambridge much easier. It really is within walking distance from the station if you arrive in Cambridge by train.
This hotel is a little gem, close enough to walk into the centre of Cambridge with parking available too. The staff were all super friendly and the whole place was spotlessly clean. After reading some of the reviews I agree our room was a little dated but that doesn’t bother me it had every thing we needed. I would definitely stay here again.
great location straight off the motorway. bed was very comfy, powerful and hot shower, lovely little garden outside me room for morning coffee. Easy self check in. Only 5 minutes drive into Cambridge the next morning, parking was free, and accommodation was at least £40 cheaper than other hotels I was looking at in the similar area
We were impressed with the quality of the wide choice of breakfast that was available to us. It was very good value for money.
The bed was comfortable and there was always ample hot water.
The grounds were pleasant if somewhat small.
The hotel location was good and it was easy to reach Cambridge City Centre by car.
The hotel is modern, the location is great and my room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The tv in the room is huge. Breakfast was exceptional, I can't think of anything that wasn't on offer. The staff is super helpful and polite. I will definitely choose this hotel for my next trips to Cambridge.
The location of the hotel was very good with good affordable parking, the rooms were functional and clean although the corridors leading to the rooms could do with some updating, the food was very good and the bar and dining areas were very clean' Sam our waiter was very polite and efficient.
Really good experience at Ramada hotel.
The receptionist was really nice and helpful I wish I knew his name but I believe he is the manager. The best person there to deal with!!
The location was good as it allows you to get to the centre of Cambridge in 20min.
Also, really good breakfast!!
I can’t shout loudly enough about this lovely boutique hotel in central Cambridge. excellent room with really tasteful decor. it’s obvious that a lot of thought has gone into this hotel. Very good rooftop bar and restaurant with excellent views and friendly attentive staff.
the room was clean and as expected from an express hotel. the beds were very comfortable. people working in the hotel were helpful and super friendly. city center of Cambridge was a 30 minute walk, a bus stop for the city is only a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
Lovely hotel, great room, swimming pool was great bonus with hot tub/sauna (was busy in the day but fine in the evening) Staff were exceptional! A half hour walk to Cambridge city center or short 5 mins away on train. Highly recommend!
We stayed here one night to visit Cambridge for a day and we thought it was a perfect hotel/location for it. It was also very nice that after we checked out, that we could leave the car parked in front of the hotel.
Nice new hotel. Clean and comfortable. A little outside of Cambridge, but easily accessible with free parking and easy access to the city. Nice breakfast. Would def stay here again.
- close to the train station, 30 min walk from city center
- shops and pubs, restaurant on Mill Road, -
- clean and well arranged kitchen and rooms
- good price compared to hotels
The room was clean and spacious. I was impressed with the refrigerator, which is exceptional in UK hotels. The location is ideal (almost the city centre of Cambridge).
