The location was just next to hoole railway station which was very convenient, there was no rail noise that we noticed and we were within walking distance of Chester centre and the river dee.

Vincy and Andrew the duty manager were really professional, Vincy even offered to help me and my daughter pack our stuff after Andrew authorised over the phone to give me the full refund so I could leave.
Didn't stay in the hotel so can't comment on anything else.
This is definitely not a 4 star hotel, not by any standard. Well not in my experience anyway.

Featuring half-timbered buildings, almost complete city walls and a wealth of Roman heritage, beautiful Chester sits by the border with Wales.
The southernmost gate of the walls overlooks the River Dee, and the road leading north is one of 4 in the city to follow the original Roman roads. To the east, the Roman Gardens include a reconstructed underfloor heating system.
Nearby Grosvenor Park has remains of a stone Roman amphitheatre, thought to have been built on the world’s largest wooden amphitheatre at the time. Over the river in the suburb of Handbridge is a 2nd-century shrine to Minerva, and an informative display in the Grosvenor Museum provides the background to all this heritage.
In the west is Chester Racecourse and nearby are the medieval castle remains. More medieval buildings line the cobbled city centre streets. Some of these are The Rows, black-and-white timbered buildings housing 2 levels of shops. Other shopping options are the indoor market by the cathedral, and the Cheshire Oaks Outlet Village in Ellesmere Port to the north. The road out there passes Chester Zoo, one of the UK’s best zoos.
Booking.com’s range of Chester accommodation includes hotels with swimming pools, guest houses by the train station and B&Bs with parking near Chester Airport.

Chester is a melting pot of culture and social classes which I loved. Shopping, bars, restaurants and nightlife, markets and live music.
Friendly people and lovely walk along the river. Old buildings full of character plus modern twists. The old cathedral was lovely too. I cant wait to visit this wonderful city again soon!

So much history.
So much history. The rows are unique incorporating shops, restaurants and bars, some of which are unique and full of historical facts. The sick to death museum is really interesting. Didn't get chance to go in the Cathedral.
Chester Zoo near by is amazing.

We visited the Food Show at Chester Racecourse which is always good for buying those special treats. The Food Show is well organised and provides something for everyone. Chester has a wide range of shops to suit all budgets. Chester has many restaurants to suit all tastes too. We have visited The Bluebell for tapas and the Koconut Grove, both have been amazing.

Huge, beautiful and fascinating Cathedral with excellent cafe food in stunning surroundings. Lovely old and interesting buildings in the town centre. Mostly traffic-free centre. All the big names if shopping is your thing, plus a wide range of indies. Grosvenor park and riverside walking is a delight. Walking almost the circumference of the town along the city walls gives great views and is traffic-free. Maybe a river trip next time.

An excellent, quiet boutique hotel with great facilities within walking distance of Chester city centre, where the hosts are very welcoming, friendly and professional. Private parking was an added bonus too. A nice personal touch of a cuppa and home made cake on arrival! Luxurious room and very comfortable bed. Amazing wonderful breakfast with a great choice and using quality ingredients. 10/10 for us for everything. Thank you Dave and Kirsty for a lovely stay, we will be returning.
Hotel was central in Chester, very close to shops and resturants. Able to leave bags at the hotel before and after check in/out.
Room was adequate. Had a twin room but after visiting other Macdonald hotels, this one was on the smaller size, good sized bathroom.
There was 1 staff member who got us some glasses and ice who was very friendly and chatty, but this seemed a rarity for those who worked there (see negatives).
The hotel is located next to Chester Station and a short walk ( mostly along the canal towpath) from the city centre. The Lobby is very impressive, and our room was clean, and the decor seemed fresh. The staff were friendly but professional, especially those in the restaurant.
There were some negatives to the hotel, but on the whole they were outweighed by the positives for us.
This hotel is ideally situated a few minutes walk from Chester’s city centre restaurants, bars and other attractions. Although it’s not the most attractive building externally the room and bathroom we had both looked as if they had been recently refurbished. The young lady who checked us in was a pleasure to deal with - friendly, welcoming, polite and helpful.
We had a spacious room with a view of the canal and a comfortable bed. The hotel had gone the extra mile to hunt down and provide a particular drink in our room that we had requested. We found the staff to be welcoming and helpful at all times. The buffet breakfast was cooked to perfection.
The hotel was located right next to Chester Race Course which we were visiting. It was clean and tidy and exceptionally quiet given it's location next to a busy road. A very good car park under the hotel, which was very reasonably priced, given that we were staying in the city centre.
Opted for the continental breakfast and was lovely. Plenty of choice. Served at your table. The room was lovely, comfortable and clean. The Location was pefect. The Evening meal set menu was excellent and very good value. Service was exceptional in hotel and restaurant.
Hotel very nice and in a great location (only 10 minutes or so into Chester City Centre by car/taxi) Room lovely and bathroom very spacious with great shower over bath. Spa lovely and Emma in particular (who did my two treatments) was excellent. Breakfast good
Lovely little hotel in Chester. Really loved their focus and commitment to being plastic free and sustainable, a really refreshing concept. Staff were great, really friendly and rooms were spacious, comfortable and very clean. Couldn't ask for more!
Lovely hotel and location was great. Ideal for walking into the centre of Chester. Close to shos, bars and restaurants. Bar area and restaurant was lovely. Rooms are great and the walk in shower is perfect. Snacks in the room are a nice touch.
Excellent standard of rooms. I just needed a base to stay - Hotel Chester was perfect being located in the city centre and easily accessible to other areas that I needed to travel to. Staff were incredibly helpful - shout out to Oliver!
the hotel was pleasingly close to Chester City Centre, the room was quiet as it was far from the lifts. it was very comfortable and had all we needed. the breakfast offered plenty of variety. the staff were friendly and approachable
The hotel was clean and smelt amazing. Great atmosphere inside. The bedrooms were quirky and clean. The temperature was spot on and the bed so comfortable. Great location if coming to Chester by train and close to the city centre.
Loved the history of the hotel and it's feel.
Beds were comfortable and rooms clean
Breakfast was decent and plentiful
We were upgraded free of charge which was lovely
Location 10 mins walk into centre
Hotel was fresh and clean, staff also very friendly. The EV charging for £15 was excellent and the pre booking of the EV charging was the main reason for my booking
