  • Hi, would it be possible to bring a small blow up bed or have a matress on the floor for our 3 year old daughter to sleep on?

Good morning, It depends which property you are enquiring about. If it is the bunkhouse or bunkhouse studio then the answer would be no due to restricted space. Warmest wishes Kat

  • Have I read the price correctly. £504 for the two 2 bedroom cottages per week. Are the cottages next to each other. Do you charge for two dogs.

Good morning, I think you are referring to our Bunkhouse, it has shared living spaces with three private bedrooms. The price you refer to is for 2 x Bunkbed rooms. We do allow dogs and there is a £25 fee per dog/per week Thanks Kat

  • you mention 2 hrs by road to Oban....that correct? What's the quickest trip to Mull-ferry from Lochaline ? What is realistic total travel time? How about to Glen Coe. I may need to select a different location or split locations/stays. Thanks. Bonnie

Good morning, Yes Oban is 2hrs driving distance from the estate. The quickest journey to the Isle of Mull is via the Lochaline to Fishnish ferry. The crossing takes 20 minutes and does not need to be booked in advance. Regards Kat

Company information

Ardtornish has many hidden secrets, here are just a few of my favourites. Going for a wild swim in Loch Arienas with nothing but the fish for company Retracing ancient steps and enjoying a picnic with the faded characters from the past at Old Ardtornish castle Sharing a few crumbs with the wildlife - Pine Martens, Eagles, foxes and the odd field mouse Drawing back the bow to propel an arrow during a competitive archery competition Licking my fingers clean after enjoying a heaped plate full of locally line caught langoustine dressed with garlic butter fresh lemon juice

Property information

Just off the Road to the Isles or across the short stretch of water from the Isle of Mull lies Lochaline and the Morvern peninsula. While an increasing number of visitors are finding-out what the area has to offer, they remain largely undiscovered and provide a relaxing getaway in some of Scotland’s most stunning surroundings. Life on Morvern moves at a somewhat leisurely pace. Ardtornish estate is big even by Scottish standards, 35,000 acres in all. It spreads out around Loch Aline, a huge, wooded, U-shaped bay, a natural haven. At the head of the loch stands the tower of Kinlochaline Castle, rising theatrically, sienna-coloured, above the trees. Not far from the Castle, also at the head of the loch, is Ardtornish House, part late-Victorian pile, part château; it is surrounded by a famous garden, all 28 acres of it. The soil is shallow, Stoney, acid, and wet or boggy in many places. Rainfall averages 85 inches (2150mm) and gales occur frequently. Despite these apparent drawbacks, many fine plants thrive here, plants which can be difficult in drier regions. Over the years one gardener has replaced 19, but it is beautiful, and well worth exploring.

Neighbourhood information

There are many wonderful things to see and do within an easy day trip from Ardtornish. You can scale the heights of the UK’s tallest mountain – Ben Nevis – at Fort William, you can visit the mainland’s most westerly point at Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, you can hop on a ferry over the sea to Skye from Mallaig or you can marvel at the majesty of the dramatic Glen Coe. The opportunities are endless and you’ll definitely not be short of choice! Oban is a great option – accessible via Mull or by road via Corran Ferry and around by Ballachulish. The ferry is more direct but the road option is quicker, at around two hours from Ardtornish. Oban is a bustling harbour town and provides great opportunities for shopping and stocking up on larder essentials. We recommend taking a stroll along the harbour front and making a visit to the Oban Chocolate Company – their hand made chocolates are delicious and their cafe makes a delightful stopping point for coffee and cake. Slightly further on from Oban at Seil, you can take the famous “Bridge over the Atlantic” en route to the pretty village of Easdale,
