Lovely house, beautifully furnished, very comfortable. Chris and Bev made us feel so welcome and the food was delicious. Will certainly go back!

Bev and Chris were excellent hosts with a wonderfully comfortable home who made us feel more than welcome. The house had some fascinating history and for those who might want to learn more there are artifacts and books to tell you more of its story. The cooked breakfast by a crackling fire was delightful and well prepared. There are good places for food nearby and guests will find local information and services in a handy book provided in the rooms.

Amazing hosts and wonderful B&B with a lovely spacious room. The hosts really did take excellent care of us. There were homemade biscuits in the room, coffee and tea facilities with fresh milk. And the bathroom was very modern and equipped with everything you need. Breakfast was superb! There is onsite parking for guests.

Chris and Bev's wonderful Ashtree bed and breakfast exceeded all expectations. There were four of us, so we were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves. We loved the tea (and fresh milk!) in our rooms, the incredible breakfasts, the giant bathtub and the cosy fires morning and night. It was a pleasure staying with you, we look forward to coming back someday - absolutely 10/10!!

Everything. The hosts were great. It was a lovely room and great shower. Food was lovely.

Beautiful house owned by lovely people, who just can’t do enough for you. Chris even took us to the restaurant we had booked for that evening. The Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. 10 is just not enough for this gem of a place.

Excellent place. Owners could not do enough very friendly and lots of privacy! We cannot wait to go back! 5 star in our eyes! Bed was great and breakfast was the best we've had lots of extra touches

Everything about Ashtree House is exceptional , Bev and Chris who run it are the nicest people you could ever want to meet and it shows in the standard of the accommodation . The b&b is just the right size not to big and not to small , the bedrooms are cosy and we had the room with the private bathroom which was lovely. The breakfast was gorgeous with the choice of hot or cold and the location on the west side of Thornton was great for trips into Bronte country and the Worth valley railway.

The owners are really friendly and the atmosphere very relaxing. The breakfast choice was impressive, and good quality, including home made bread, jam, etc.

Everything was clean, room very comfortable and relaxing. Breakfast was delicious. Bev and Chris were very welcoming and helpful.

Bev and Chris Hughes
Ashtree House is a family run bed and breakfast on the outskirts of the village of Thornton, the birth place of the Brontë family. The house was built in 1863, originally as a country inn run by the Thwaites family. It remained a hostelry until the late 1930s when it changed use to a residential property. The current owners Bev and Chris Hughes have lovingly updated their home to provide high quality bed and breakfast accommodation, whilst still retaining the traditional Victorian features. Ashtree House is located on the edge of the village close to the wonderful unspoilt Yorkshire countryside, and moorland made famous by the Brontë novels. Thornton village boasts the Brontë birth place -now an Italian style coffee shop called Emily’s - as well as an arts and craft centre at South Square, with its own vegetarian café, Christophe's coffee house is also close by. There are several local hostelries and eateries that serve high quality food. The property is close to Halifax (6 miles) with its famous and recently renovated Piece Hall and to Haworth and the Brontë Parsonage. For those visiting the area on business Ashtree House is conveniently located for access to the M62
Ashtree House bed and breakfast is run by myself and my wife Bev. I am a retired chief biomedical scientist, having worked in the national health service for 38 years, whilst Bev, is a retired primary school teacher. We have set up our home as a bed and breakfast. We aim to provide a warm, comfortable and relaxing environment for our guests. Bev and I enjoy walking, Bev being a keen bird watcher, whilst I prefer to be fishing. Together we play in a band, a group of middle aged people who decided to learn to play an instrument in their mid 40's. Now we play in local pubs, churches etc and have even been in a recording studio. Basically we have fun.
The property is located on the outskirts of the village of Thornton. Thornton village is the birth place of the Brontës. The Bronte birthplace is now an Italian café. Visitors can explore the ruins and pretty gardens of the original church "The Brontë bell chapel". where Patrick Brontë was curate. The village boasts several cafes and eateries giving a choice of lunch time and evening venues. South Square is an arts centre, with shops, galleries, vegetarian café and Gin bar. Originally a collection of stone masons cottages the revitalised project brings the arts to the heart of the village. The property is close to Bradford (5miles) and Halifax (6 miles) with its famous and recently renovated Piece Hall and to Haworth and the Brontë Parsonage. The property is only a 20 minute drive form the wonderful Yorkshire dales. Popular tourist destinations like Leeds and York are less than a hours drive away. For those visiting the area on business Ashtree House is conveniently located for access to the M62 (10 miles). Bev and Chris aim to offer a warm and comfortable environment in which to relax and enjoy your stay.
