Carole is welcoming and informative - the property is kept immaculately clean. The standard and choice of breakfast is exceptional. Parking is available close by using a permit, Carole offers guidance and instruction to find the parking zone. This is by far the best B&B experience I have ever had. Carole took payment at the end of our stay with us present she is very professional in every aspect of the business

With an extensive and award-winning breakfast menu, the Avondale Guest House offers bright rooms just a 10-minute walk from the center of York. Guests have use of free Wi-Fi throughout.

Should guests want to visit the famous Stonegate and York Minster, these are a pretty 20-minute walk across the river and along the cobbled streets of the main shopping area.

Rooms at the Avondale are individually decorated and all are en suite. Guests arrive to fresh flowers in their room, as well as a well-stocked hospitality tray, complimentary toiletries and a TV.

There are 6 breakfast options including "American" and "Mediterranean", and there is even the specialty whiskey porridge to try. Each is prepared using locally sourced produce and served in the dining room with its traditional feature fireplace.

York Railway Station and the National Railway Museum are a 20-minute walk away. A 10-minute stroll away guests will find the medieval walls, Rowntrees Park and York Castle Museum.

  • Do you provide towels, how do I get free parking and may be after 6pm that we arrive as cannot leave until my granddaughter has finished school. Thanks Denise

A lovely Victorian property that we are continually restoring, we offer comfortable beds, en suite facilities and pretty rooms. As an old house the rooms are not huge but are very comfortable offering all that you would need for your stay. We offer a very varied menu from which to choose a different breakfast every day if you wish, don't forget to try our yummy whisky porridge to start your day! We can cater for all your food requirements, just let us know. Should you wish for wine, champagne, flowers or anything arranging for your stay, again, you just need to let us know!

Living on the premises I really enjoy the opportunity to have wonderful conversations with people from all over the world. I embrace living in York and it's fabulous history, I am always delighted to pass on little secrets of the City, places to visit, great little restaurants and things to look out for.

'Bishy Road' has won national high awards over the last two years, it offers chic little cafe's, local independent shops, wonderful little restaurants and a great atmosphere. We are all proud of where we live and endeavour to keep the area looking lovely. Just 10 mins from the city, close to Rowntree Park and the racecourse.
