The area is very popular with walkers and cyclists alike, due to its great tracks and trails that pass right by the front door; the Viking Way cuts through the centre of the town. Horncastle’s history dates to well before the Roman occupation, today there are still many places locally where remains of the Roman fort wall can still be viewed. Horncastle has the Wolds Wildliffe Park, as well as a fine selection of local pubs and hotels as well as a variety of different eating establishments to suit most tastes. Lincoln features a fantastic cathedral, castle and the Magna Carta Visitor Centre, all of which are 30 minutes away. In the opposite direction is Skegness, a seaside resort with fine sandy beaches and many local attractions.
