Host Info
Built in the 18th Century the Baron at Bucknell was originally a farmhouse which was sympathetically converted into a country inn in 1985, retaining many original features Our charming restaurant features an original 18th century cider press and mill stone in keeping with the strong roots and tradition of the local area. Our conservatory is light and airy, displaying photographs of the local area, reinforcing the heritage of this stunning landscape. Both rooms offer fabulous views of our garden and Bucknell Mynd like no other restaurants in Ludlow. We have five very special and individually styled en-suite bedrooms. All the bedrooms are equipped to a very high standard, giving you, our guests, the convenience of home with the luxury of a hotel. It’s our commitment to you and your holiday that makes us comparable to the best hotels in Shropshire. We are graded 4 star by Visit Britain and we were awarded their prestigious Gold Award and Breakfast Award in 2014 for our consistent excellent standards throughout.
We are very passionate about what we do and feel very lucky to be able to wake up every morning in such beautiful surroundings. When time allows, we love to go for a walk with our the dog (Scruffy) or cycle around the country lanes.
We are situated in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and surrounded by stunning views of the rolling Shropshire Hills. Walking, cycling, horse riding, fishing, bird watching and golf are just a few activities on offer in this beautiful, peaceful and unspoilt county. Ludlow is just a 20 minute drive away with its 500 listed buildings, markets and castle. There are many other market towns nearby all steeped in history accessible by car, local bus services and rail (The Heart of Wales Line is one of the most scenic railway journeys in the UK). Shropshire is the perfect get away destination whatever the weather. There is plenty to do and each season has it’s own distinctive beauty
