There is much to be said of this family run business. The hotel is very comfortable, clean and ideally positioned in the centre of Moffat and very accessible from/to the M74. The staff were exceptionally friendly and very attentive and the home cooking was a joy to eat. Hope to return again at some point.

The location suited our travel plans. We arrived at 6pm on a wet Sunday evening and the staff were excellent then and throughout. Room good and, like the bathroom, spotless. Owner introduced himself at breakfast, a nice touch, and incidentally, the same as happened at our hotel in Kippen the previous evening.

Located in the spa town of Moffat, Buccleuch Arms Hotel is a former 18th-century Georgian coaching inn which offers free Wi-Fi and a restaurant serving award-winning food. Just 5 minutes’ drive from the A74 motorway, the hotel also features a scenic garden and a collection of single-malt whiskys to sample.

An private bathroom is provided in each room at the Buccleuch Arms, as well as a flat-screen TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Many of the rooms also feature beautiful views of the town and the surrounding valley. Guests can also relax in the hotel lounge which features a Georgian fireplace.

Locally sourced ingredients are used in the bar meals and dinners available in the restaurant. Homemade soups and beef steaks are just some of the options on offer. A continental breakfast can also be provided and eaten inside or outside.

  • Hi Five of us would like to stay next June. We will be travelling with bicycles, and were wondering if you have secure overnight storage available for them? Kind regards, Linda Cox

    We have 10 lockable bespoke motorcycle garages that can be reserved for £5 each for the duration of a stay. One garage would certainly be able to accommodate 6 bicycles comfortably.

  • Can I confirm you take dogs? Can they also come into the bar if we were to eat with yourselves? Thanks

    The Buccleuch is absolutely dog friendly, however the restaurant is the only place we don’t allow dogs and this is the only place we serve food. We have found most owners are happy enough to leave their dogs in their rooms or cars while dining.

  • Hi have you any rooms with 2 single beds, please. Looking at coming up on the 17th August. Regards Jeff

    Afternoon Jeff. The only rooms we have are 2 x Double Rooms (Double Bed in each) at £78.50 per room/per night B&B for Single Occupancy and a Quad Room with 4 Single Beds at £133.00 per room/per night B&B for 2 people. Regards Yvonne

  • Hi, we are travelling with our dog and our 13y old son ... which of your rooms allow dogs? Thanks, Jackie

    Good news ... ALL our rooms are dog friendly. There is a £5 surcharge per dog per room to help towards the extra housekeeping and there is a limit of 2 dogs per room. Dogs are able to go everywhere in the hotel apart the from the dining room.
