Everything about Buckley Farmhouse B&B is perfect. Peaceful, comfortable and clean, surrounded by miles of stunning countryside with a view down to the sea. Not fussy or old fashioned in the way some B&Bs can be - it feels timeless. Sue is a wonderful host and Smudge the dog is very welcoming too! Breakfast was delicious. Location was perfect for a few days of exploring East Devon, walking to Sidmouth and back in the evenings (about 2 miles each way) and trekking the South West Coastal Path during the day. Can't wait to return!

This was our second visit to Buckley Farmhouse and can only say that the accommodation, hospitality and general welcome was second to none. Breakfast was delicious and no effort spared by our charming hosts, Sue and John, to make our stay as pleasurable as possible. The house is elegantly furnished, sitting in beautiful grounds with lovely views of the surrounding countryside, peaceful and quiet, but only a short distance from Sidmouth.

The breakfast was one of the best I've ever had. The location and surroundings were beautiful, and it was a perfect location for visiting the Tar Barrels at Ottery St Mary. The host was warm and friendly, and did as much as she could to make our stay awesome. She even helped recommend taxi companies before we arrived. The property has a lovely set of gardens, with beautiful white ducks roaming around. I believe the eggs at breakfast were from the chickens on the property. The bed was amazingly comfortable!!

  • We would like to book a room for the 26 - 30 October. How ever what happens to our payment if there is a lockdown etc on the Friday, Saturday or Sunday after this date.

  • Is there a room available with a walk in shower?

    Yes, we have 3 ensuite rooms all with walk in showers, there is a Standard Double room, a King bedded room and a Superking/Twin bedded room.

  • Hi What does external private bathroom mean in reality?

    The bathroom is a few paces away from the bedroom but is for exclusive use (in other words not shared)

  • Are the prices per person or for the room

    I am sorry for the delay in replying, I thought I had sent one from my phone but it did not send.!! I can confirm that our prices are for the room per night for 2 people and includes breakfast.

  • we are staying with you tommorow and cannot wait as this is part of honeymoon what pubs would you recommend locally for food tommorow night

    2 pubs quite near, The Blue Ball Inn is quite large, it is under new ownership, we understand the food is good. There is a small pub in the village of Sidbury called The Red Lion, it is very friendlywith a limited menu. Dukes in Sidmouth is good.

  • Is there a bus service nearby

    Sorry it would appear that my first reply has not got through. There is a bus service from Sidbury village which is about a 12 minute walk from us and there is also a service from Sidford which is about 1 mile from us.

    Yes, we have sufficient room to allow us to serve breakfast in our dining room which is now table service by myself, my husband is the chef.

  • Can you walk into Sidmouth from the B&B?

    Yes, into Sidmouth is a distance of approximately 2 miles. The first part would be along our country lane and then from Sidford you can take a dedicated walking path called The Byes (no cars ) It takes around 45 minutes. Hope this helps.

Buckley Farmhouse is set in 2 acres of grounds with views from the front of the house down over Sidmouth to the sea beyond. If you are looking for a quiet location to stay then look no further, you will definitely get a quiet nights sleep here without any traffic noise. With four ensuite bedrooms and one very large room with a separate private bathroom you are sure to find a room suitable for you.

John and Sue your hosts have lived most of their lives in East Devon so a very knowledgeable about all the places to see and visit. We keep chicken so we can provide you with the freshest of eggs at breakfast time.

We are situated less than a mile from the A3052 which runs along the coast making us ideally placed for site seeing trips to places such as Beer, Lyme Regis, Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth. The Donkey Sanctuary is only 2 miles away, the beach at Sidmouth 2.25 miles. Coastal and Inland walks, the East Devon Way is behind us. Sidmouth has a Golf Course and a lovely shopping centre with a great variety of independent shops.
