Our host Jane was wonderful and messaged throughout our stay, making sure we were all settled and comfortable. We were even able to have a later checkout at no extra cost- which was much appreciated with the pouring rain! The location was fabulous, with stunning views across (photos do not do it justice) the bay and a lovely coastal walk to beautiful secluded beaches ( Coastal Path). The accommodation sits in an elevated position, which was not a problem for us, but maybe for someone with mobility issues ( this is stated). The bedrooms were all of perfect size and easily fit 2 families or group size of 8 and the added bonus of 2 lounges was perfect. The main lounge has a fire that we made use of and is great for warming the soul on winter nights. The hive heating also kept us nice and warm. We have already booked another stay for next year!

A really lovely pub (The Australia) highly recommend and the Snowdonia national park on your doorstep . you can also take advantage of the main line train to do large sections of the Wales coastal path getting off and walking a section and on again at different stations, Note, please tell the conductor witch station you want to get off at as the train doesn't stop automatically at all stations.
Welsh coastal path is stunning in and around porthmadog well worth walking.

Porthmadog is the perfect place to stay when visiting Portmerion, or if walking and exploring the area. It does have a pretty harbour/marina. There are plenty of choices for eating out. Plus the heritage railway is a short walk.

Beautiful town and surrounded by lots to do and good amenities . We travelled to Ffestiniog to get train to llandudno, which was a lovely journey and a 1/ 5 of price of heritage train trips. We will definitely be going back to stay again..
We stayed in a Cabana and for a family of four it was amble for a couple of nights. The lodge was very modern and super clean. The kids loved the mezzanine sleeping area. We are at the hotel both nights, and the food was delicious. The pizza on the outside pizza oven was a highlight and the kids were happy playing in the play park which was viewable from the outside dining area. Location is also idea for everything you might want to do in the area. All in all really lovely break and would 100% recommend it.
This is a Tale of Two Rooms. The first night we were in a twin room in the attic. it was on the 3rd floor and I can barely walk. There was no lift. The room sucked so bad my husband told them we would not stay for a second night. The reception hostess was so nice. she managed to switch our room from the attic to the best room in the hotel for the 2nd night that room was very nice. it had a private patio, a king bed plus a twin, a larger bathroom and we were quite happy with it.
All the staff in Royal Sportsman Hotel were super nice but professional — offering suggestions on where to eat, what to do, how to go to attractions etc. They were clearly short-staffed — I saw many of them worked long hours (especially the F&B members) but yet they were cheery and helpful to me throughout my stay. The room was exceptional, cosy and clean. The location was only 5 minutes walk from Porthmadog train station.
Very friendly, Alison was an outstanding host, amazing food, great choice for breakfast.
Safe, secure parking.
Lovely garden to sit in with wonderful views.
Warm, comfortable room. Had a fan if good weather!
Room had everything you wanted and more. Fridge with a pint of milk, tray with tea, coffee etc.
Well positioned for exploring North Wales.
Even had slippers provided, brilliant 🙂
I stayed in Porthmadog and took a day trip to Portmeirion. My stay here was cozy and had everything for a comfortable stay. The free breakfast was amazing and everyone at the hotel was attentive and accommodating. Would definitely recommend Yr Hen Fecws to anyone traveling to or through Porthmadog.
The hotel was located in a lovely little hamlet on the edge of town. Great location for exploring the local area. Hotel was clean and quiet and the room was equipped with everything we needed. The bar downstairs was open for food and drinks in the evening. Staff were very helpful and friendly
It was a lovely location. Near local areas e.g Portmadog etc we had a meal at the hotel which was really nice lovely staff and great service. Would definately go back it exceeded my expectations. The accommadation was clean and in a lovely location.
The location of the suite of rooms was excellent, overlooking the Town Square on one side and the estuary on the other. It was relaxing strolling in the Village in the evening and early morning. Good views of the estuary from the hotel dining area.
Beautiful apartment. Really well furnished, everything we needed was there. Great location for visiting loads of places in North Wales. There’s a lovely view from the terrace. Beds were super comfy too. Really enjoyed our stay here.
The room was amazing, including spa bath (unexpected really).
Service was wonderful, and we took benefit of the restaurant in the hotel, where food was amazing.
If you are staying in the area a place to go without any doubt
The location was superb right in the centre of Porthmadog, great for pubs and places to eat and also for getting out to other areas for walks. The property was ideal for 2 people and could easily accommodate 4 comfortably.
Location was great, staff were very friendly and helpful. Shuttles were available to get to and from the different parts of the hotel if needed. A fantastic breakfast. Dinner at the Brasserie was also excellent.
Brilliant location. Short walk into Porthmadog and Aldi across the road, but also on a circular walking route (although I only realised when I came out near the property half way round!). Comfortable and clean.
