Once an important medieval trading centre, Norwich remains a popular shopping destination. The Chapelfield centre is the newest addition, whereas a historic shop sells the city’s most famous export: Colman’s Mustard. Castle Mall is underground, in a hill topped with a keep, part of the 12th-century castle founded by William the Conqueror.
Dating to the same era is the large cobbled square housing a 6-day market. It was said that Norwich had a church for every week, and while that is no longer true, over 30 medieval churches still exist. The cathedral was built using stone from Normandy and boasts England’s 2nd largest cloisters and 2nd tallest spire.
Colourful medieval façades line Elm Hill and the Guildhall is another fine example of the period. Half-timbered Dragon Hall was a trading hall, while St Andrew’s and Blackfriars Halls constitute England’s most intact friary. The 14th-century Cow Tower sits by the River Wensum upstream from Pulls Ferry, the train station and Norwich City FC.
Reportedly, Norwich once had a pub for every day, and today’s traditional inns and modern bars are certainly popular with the student population. Other entertainment options include the Theatre Royal and Playhouse.
Norwich accommodation on Booking.com includes historic hotels with pools, city centre guest houses and riverside apartments, all near to Norwich Airport.

As we lived in Norwich for 15 years and were returning to vist friends and family, we know that Norwich is a lovely city with options to shop from the mall to the market place. It has many good places to visit, including for children, For adults, plenty of options to eat and drink and it still has a lively music scene.

Norwich is a hidden gem, tucked away in the eastern part of England, with lots of history (The Castle, The 2 superb Cathedrals, and the many parts of the town that are - just very ancient and well preserved) The pubs are great too, and the shops are not all high street ones that you would expect, but small, carefully run shops, waiting to be found. I would certainly visit again

Only stayed one night but a visit to Norwich cathedral on the Sunday morning for the sung Eucharist service was very enjoyable, with choristers, a characterful cathedral cat called Budge, tea and coffee afterwards and the chance to admire this beautiful historic building

Norwich - the only hill in Norfolk is famous for Elm Hill the Tudor street, cathedral and castle. The centre is compact so the touristy bits are easy to walk round. The market is well worth a visit as is a walk along the river to whet the appetite before stopping for an excellent sandwich at the Britons Arms.

Easy access to bus and train station.
Lots of historic sights to visit.
Good shopping including a market.
Great old bookshops.
The cathedral is fabulous.
Lots of varieties of cafes, restaurants and all sorts of pubs and bars.. But need to book.
Good entertainments including street musicians.
As with all other cities not good to see rough sleepers. They should have safe places to go.
From initial booking to checking out the hosts were very helpful and informative and made the check in / out process very easy.
The apartment is a very spacious and was exactly what we were after for our night away with friends, rather than having 2 separate rooms in a hotel, this was so much more sociable.
We didn’t use the 3rd bedroom but noted this was now a double bed as opposed to the bunk beds on the pics.
Parking space was a massive bonus. Great location for city centre.
We stayed for a university visit, so we wanted to be accessible to both the city centre and the university. This was ideal, with a level flat walk to the city centre in under 10 minutes. The university was a 15 minute drive. The hotel was extremely warm and comfortable, with exceptionally courteous and helpful staff. We slept very well and the breakfast was good. The rooms were lovely and spacious and very warm and comfortable considering the time of year.
Delightful hotel which is very old and furnished in a sympathetic style suiting the hotel. Staff were amazingly attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The cooked breakfast was delicious as were the self service items such as cereal, juice etc. Although off the beaten track, it is only 3-4 miles from Norwich City centre which is ideal if you want to stay in secluded peace and quiet in the evening. Getting a taxi into the city centre was quick and easy!
Everything! Absolutely spotless, very tastefully decorated and love the original features that have been so well preserved. The location is spot on, if you don't mind a bit of a walk (only 15 mins or so) into town, I love this area of Norwich so it was perfect. The parking was so easy, we got the spot right out the front of the house. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen had everything you needed and the bathroom was lovely.
Finding a hotel so close to Norwich city centre with ample parking was ideal!
The staff that greeted me when checking in and out were so polite, helpful, and friendly.
The room was great and had everything I needed and more (tea making facilities, microwave, fridge). The shower was modern with great water temperature and pressure and the bed very comfortable.
I was impressed the tv had access to Netflix etc.
Lovely period building in a central location, lovely part of Norwich city centre. Near to everything but quite peaceful. 24 hour parking at £10 in the car hotel park was useful for us too.
Our bedroom was spacious, light and well insulated. No noise disturbance at all and we slept very well.
Very nice staff: friendly and helpful.
Great location if you’re looking for a quiet stay, the pub is in a small village outskirts of Norwich but just under 30 mins to city centre. Staff were so lovely and the room was amazing. We had breakfast and a meal whilst we stayed and the food was lovely. Credits to the couple who own the pub - thankyou :)
The house was clean and had everything we needed during our one week stay, and having a washing machine was a bonus. Location is great! The street has a few places to eat and get coffee. Short walk into main downtown of Norwich. Kenny, our host was fast to respond when I had questions.
Located in a beautiful part of Norwich but still close to the city centre. The bar had a good choice of real ale and the food was excellent. A special mention to Helen on reception for giving service above and beyond. She moved her car in the car park to ensure I had a parking space.
Very comfortable bed, lovely bathroom. I had a great night’s sleep and enjoyed a relaxing bath in the morning. Considering the hotel is in the city centre and my room had traditional sash windows, it was very peaceful. The staff I spoke to were helpful and pleasant.

The staff is extremely helpful and attentive! The hotel is very clean and they have a lot of public spaces for people to use. The location is also quite good with easy walking access to all of Norwich's major tourist areas!
The hotel is ok for a short stay. Comfortable room, lovely breakfast and pleasant staff. We were happy with the warm swimming pool and sauna. A short distance from the city centre by car. We liked exploring Norwich.
Last stayed in 2018. New owners have totally transformed the hotel. Excellent food, friendly staff and the fact you are in a quiet village but just 3 miles or so from Norwich makes the stay even better!
Loved the apartment (got a free upgrade with them), clean, well lit and well stocked with teas and coffees. Everything was easy to find, the bathroom was amazing. It felt like staying in a hotel.
This is a comfortable and conveniently located hotel in Norwich city centre. As a single traveller I always feel safe here and the staff are friendly and helpful.
