The staff were very welcoming which made for a very pleasant stay. The room, facilities, breakfast and dinner were all to a high standard and the location and bar terrace were ideal for us to celebrate our 34th Wedding Anniversary together with our pet dog Flora.

The lodge was way above my expectations from the massive bathroom, heated floors, controlled velux windows, fluffy robe/towels, proper coffee, sky tv, very clean, MASSIVE bed it was just amazing, so much so I cancelled my stay in London and commuted back to the lodge for the remaining night. The owner even gave me a lift to the local park and ride in the morning for work. Highly recommend this lodge and would stay here again in a heartbeat if im back down this way.

Dating back to the 15th century, this Tudor house and converted stable block is set in the grounds of Channels Estate.

The individually designed rooms and suites include original features, such as exposed wooden beams, along with modern comforts. Each room with attached bathroom offers a DVD player and free Wi-Fi. With ironing supplies and a hairdryer, the rooms also include bathrobes, slippers, a mini-bar, and tea and coffee making facilities with fresh milk and Costa Coffee.

  • Are any of your dog friendly rooms on the ground floor

    Good afternoon, I am pleased to say that all our dog friendly rooms are on the ground floor. Whist we are always happy to welcome well behaved dogs, we do make an additional charge of £10 per night per dog, for this service. I hope you find this helpful.

  • looking to book a dog-friendly room Sat 20 and Sun 22 November. I can see atm you have a double room & deluxe suite available - either dog friendly?

    The suite available isn't dog appropriate I'm afraid, however, only some of our executive rooms are dog friendly and I would recommend calling us in order to book so that we can allocate the best room for you.

    We can certainly twin some rooms but do require guests to directly speak to us in advance in order to facilitate this.

  • Hi can children use the pool?

    I'm afraid we don't actually have a pool onsite, however, our guests are able to use the pool at Chelmsford Nuffield Health Centre.

    I'm afraid we don't have a pool onsite, however, our guests are able to use the facilities at Chelmsford Nuffield Health Centre. They are completely open and guests are able to use their indoor pool.

  • Just double checking that dogs are allowed and if so at what cost? Also do you have a room for 2 adults and 2 children aged 7 and 3 or a family room with an adjoining door to each room? Thank you. Alex

    Yes, we do allow dogs but there is a £10 per night surcharge. All of our rooms are doubles are standard, but we have a number of larger rooms that can accommodate 2 additional beds for your children. Each bed would be charged at £15 including breakfast.
