A well placed and modern hotel with good facilities. A friendly welcome and helpful staff. The room was large and had a Nespresso coffee machine, bottle of drinking water and a well stocked bar. We ate in the restaurant in the evening which was of a good quality - especially desert! Prompt and friendly service. The breakfast was also very good in a nice large conservatory area. Check out was contactless and easy.

The City Gate is located in the center of Exeter with a traditional pub, dining room and garden surrounded by the historic city wall.

    We do not have any parking at the hotel itself, there are two car parks opposite us that are chargeable in the daytime but free overnight.

    Yes, an extra bed in a room will be £25 or if you need a travel cot for a child that would be £15.

  • Hi Is there a safe place to park a motorcycle?

    We do not have a car park at the hotel, but do recommend our guests using the Harlequins car park just across the road from us - it is free overnight from 6pm until 8am and locks at 11pm.

  • Hello We live around the corner and until Covid we were regulars. We plan to have our lounge painted and stay with you overnight to include dinner . Plans to meet family in bar now scuppered but need to know how long we can stay the following day while second coat goes on our walls! Thanks Sally

  • Hi, I'm gluten intolerant, and therefore I can't eat wheat. Do you have gluten bread? If you don't, would I be able to bring mine to toast? Also I'm vegetarian, do you have vegetarian sausages, for a full English breakfast? Many thanks Nicola

  • I need 2 rooms 1 x 2 adults large double 2 x 2 adults and child of 6 I cannot see that the rooms on offer include a third bed in one of the rooms

    We do have a family room (which could be for a maximum of 4 people), we also can add an additional bed to a room for a cost of £15. Please get in touch if you'd like to book.
