We went particularly to spend a day visiting the Chatham dock yard. It was amazing in size and content. We learned a lot about its history and were fascinated in going on board three historic vessels there. The eating areas were very good and gave good choices even for Vegans! Plenty of parking under cover.

The Historic Dockyard was absolutely fabulous and well worth the visit. Give yourself the whole day to take everything in. There are some hidden gems, like The Command House' bar and restaurant and also the Hollywood Bowl restaurant and Bar.
Not entirely sure what to say about the town centre. Walking late at night through the town centre could be unnerving for some and during our 3 day stay we never saw a police presence on the streets. Lots of small groups of men gathered around.

Chatham town centre has various places to visit.
Chatham town centre has various places to visit. The Dockyard is a must see. There are various places to done and drink. We went to a fabulous Indian restaurant called the Sultan which provided many tasty local Indian dishes to satisfy it's diners taste buds. It's an easy place to get around by car or on foot. Walking through the town centre does not give the visitor much to fill them with excitement. Many facilities are tired, dated and you feel need regeneration. Hopefully in the future this could be rectified to show off more of the Maritime history the town is noted for.

Chatham town itself may not be anything special - a typical south-east England town. But there are some places of interest nearby, and Chatham could be a very good base from which to explore and visit other sites on the south coast and even in London.
For example, in Chatham there is the Historic Dockyard, a must for all ages with an interest in naval history. Rochester nearby has the castle, now a ruin but the site of an overnight stay by king Henry the 8th.
Very clean and comfortable room. All the facilities I would have expected, except for a hairdryer. However, upon request a hairdryer was provided so problem solved! I was given a lovely welcome and seated in reception with a lovely coffee before being shown to my room. I was also taken into the adjoining restaurant and very well looked after by the waiting staff and had a delicious dinner. If I have the need to return to Chatham this will definitely be my first choice for accommodation!
pub with rooms set in an old Royal Navy workshop
Friendly and helpful Staff
above average pub grub and an excellent breakfast
spacious bedroom with comfortable king size bed and a well appointed bathroom with a good shower over bath
overlooking a marina full of boats of all shapes and sizes
free parking in a large car park
close to shops and restaurants
ideal base to explore the historic Chatham Dockyard and Rochester castle and cathedral
Room comfortable and basic. Tea/coffee provided was picked up from reception on arrival. Extras could be collected from same place. River view fantastic. Sanitation stations by lifts and dotted throughout. As the room was used to sleep in and not much else it met our needs. Hotel not far from high Street which makes shopping easier. Also near Chatham train station (5 min slow walk).
Me and my partner had a lovely stay at the hotel very lovely accomodation the landlord was very welcoming when we got lost he picked us up from the train station which was very helpful we would recommend to come back here again the house was very clean and very nice area and quiet. Thankyou for being so helpful and welcoming. I recommend a thousand star 💫 review
To be honest, we never got there. We were going to a funeral, but the car broke down.
The only thing I can say about The Charles Hotel is, they need to learn to pick the telephone up. I tried 3 times to inform them that we would not be staying with them that night. They never picked up or replayed to my message. So on this one small detail, POOR.
The staff at this hotel were so friendly. The hotel is in much peaceful location. Whether the restaurant was closed but the market with large brands of foods and shopping centres just two miles away. We just reached there in five minutes. It was awesome experience, We love to stay here again. Thank you so much for lovely and memorable experience.
Excellent facilities, furnishings level excellent, this establishment eclipses most 5 star hotels, showering is superb and Ayo and her janitorial team have gone to considerable lengths to make customer satisfaction an absolute.
Well done Chatham Guest House, IMHO, Guest House of the year 2023.
The staff at the hotel were all wonderful and did their best to make us comfortable. The locations was brilliant as we were very interested in the maritime dockyard museum as well as several other nearby points of interest on the South Coast. Motorway access was great.
The hotel is situated in the town with easy parking facilities. Nice views over the River Medway from room 208. The staff were friendly particularly the lady on evening shift who was kept extremely busy.
The hotel was lovely and staff were really friendly and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was great with lots of options and we enjoyed a swim in their little pool in the morning.
Chatham itself is a beautiful place and we went to the historic dockyard which was absolutely amazing. So in general it was OK the accommodation let it down!
I like the fact that the hotel had been completely re furbished and the large executive room I had was very quiet and at the far extremity of the extension.
The staff is helpful. It was a really hot day and the hotel provided me with a fan on request. Kind Gesture. Komal, at the reception is polite and helpful.
great location to get all around kent. very friendly staff. good hotel for children , swimming pool was excellent.. all round very good place to stay..
