The hotel was everything I hoped for. Both my room and the public areas were spotlessly clean and well cared for. Breakfast offered a fairly limited choice but everything was tasty and freshly prepared, with excellent fruit bowls. Dinner in the hotel brasserie was also excellent and good value, in a very welcoming space. The location was ideal, right opposite the beach and handy for the harbour and town centre. As for the service, it was faultless - all the staff we encountered were both friendly and efficient, showing a genuine enthusiasm for making our stay as enjoyable as possible.

Even though there was a mix up as amendments to stay made on Bookings.com apparently did not go through to hotel they accommodated us as I could show them from my phone app the changes made were confirmed by Bookings.com. Unfortunately as receptionists frequently change shifts we had to go through the same explanations multiple times , that was stressful.

Just across the road from the beach, Hotel Continental offers well-appointed rooms around 10 minutes’ walk from Whitstable’s characterful town center. With its own bar and bistro restaurant overlooking the Thames Estuary, this hotel provides free parking and Wi-Fi.

Each guest room has a flat-screen TV with DVD player, wardrobe, desk and tea and coffee facilities, and some have sea views. All have an private bathroom with bath or shower and complimentary toiletries.

A full English breakfast is served each morning. The bistro restaurant offers a continental-style menu with seafood specialties including Whitstable’s famous oysters, plus steaks, fish and homemade desserts. Locally brewed beers, coffee and fine wines are served in the bar.

Hotel Continental is a 3-minute drive from Whitstable Train Station, with direct services to London and resorts on the east Kent coast. Whitstable is just 8 miles from Canterbury Cathedral, found in the center of this historic city. The Eurostar terminal at Ashford International is 35-40 minutes’ drive from the hotel.
