Bakewell and the Peak District has been our family’s Happy Place for 15 years! Just love the whole area. Busy village, with plenty of shops and places to eat, a lot selling local produce. A busy market every Monday. As an active family enjoying the outdoors, it is an excellent base to explore the surroundings. Lots of opportunities to walk, hike and cycle. Plenty of historic properties in the area, including the wonderful Chatsworth hall and gardens. Great places to eat, with one of the best Indian restaurants. An amazing part of the country!

There’s a little area for souvenir shopping and buying the famous pies and puddings and several outdoor clothing shops. There’s a co-op and a spar. A few pubs and 2 fish n chip shops. Not much to do in the evening. Good base for buses to Chatsworth, Matlock, Derby, Sheffield. Walking distance or short drive to start of the Monsal Trail. Bike hire at Hassops station.

A pretty town with plenty of restaurants and eating options available. Plenty of walking opportunities within a few miles from Bakewell, as well as other scenic towns / villages, like Matlock, Buxton and Matlock Bath. Also not too far from the majestic Chatsworth house and estate.

Bakewell is a very friendly town in the Peak District. It is picturesque with lovely walks beside the river which is close to the town centre. Plenty of small independent shops along with other retail outlets. Loads of cafes and the deli was superb.

Plenty of pubs to eat and drink, good parking available in and around the centre £6 for all day up to 6pm and then £1 from 6pm to 10.00pm. The Rutland Arms Hotel has a great restaurant and bar which do great cocktails, you may want to book the restaurant in advance. If your into walking or cycling you can try the Monsal trail which is an old train line about 8 miles long cutting through the Derbyshire countryside and you will go through 6 tunnels, this is not a loop so if you go the full distance who will have to walk or cycle back. Along the route there are about 3or 4 places for refreshments, the largest of these is at Hassop railway station which is about half way, you can have any thing from tea, coffee and cakes to having a meal.

An old coaching inn on the A6 in Bakewell. It has only 2 rooms at present, but the new owners are hoping to increase this shortly. In spite of being on a busy road it was extremely quiet and we were not aware of any traffic. It is well located and within easy walking distance of the town centre and the river. The owners and staff were very welcoming and the food in the evening and the breakfasts were very good.

Had a lovely couple of nights at the Haven. Jeremy was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were lovely, clean & comfortable, a fab breakfast plus off street parking and the measures in place for the current COVID restrictions worked really well. The hotel is a few minutes walk into the town either via the road or across the park and along the river. I will definitely be staying here the next time I visit Bakewell.

Excellent location. Easy access to the centre of town. Bagshaw Hall is full of character and has a nice feel about it. The room was very clean and comfortable. Basically an excellent base from which to explore Bakewell and surrounding areas. Being able to park was a plus too. Having a kitchenette area in the room was very useful if you wanted a quiet night in. There is a great Co-op in town.

We really enjoyed our stay. The barn conversion was well set up and it was lovely to have the shared garden as well during the heatwave. We also used the table tennis table in the games room. Views were stunning and the location is perfect for exploring Bakewell, Chatsworth and environs.

We had a lovely stay at Hassop Station Apartment. It's very tastefully done, and had everything we needed. It's a really handy location - 7min drive to Chatsworth and about the same to Bakewell. The cafe just round the corner is great for breakfasts etc. I'm sure we'll be back.

A really well equiped cottage, probably the best I have stayed in. It looked lovely and was spacious. Really good for exploring the Derbyshire dales from, with private parking. Exceptional. I still have more to explore in the area around the cottage, therefore will be back.

The location was excellent - in the town centre. I liked the included breakfast and the free parking was a huge bonus as Bakewell can get very busy at the weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful and we were always able to get a sunny seat in the beer garden.

Loved the layout. Perfect for two couples each with their own bathroom as well as a bathroom on the main floor. It looked recently renovated and was done to a high standard. Also very close to downtown Bakewell but very quiet for sleeping.
