Maryculter House, hotel in Peterculter

With a picturesque setting on the banks of the River Dee, this charming Scottish mansion dates back to 1225 AD, and was once home to the Knights Templar.

The bedroom was comfortable and had everything we needed. The bathroom was exceptional; the underfloor heating very cosy and the whole room was spotlessly clean. We were really happy with the facilities. The staff were really helpful and friendly with all our questions, and at breakfast each morning we were served promptly and with friendliness. We also had a beautiful view of the river Dee from our window which we loved. We can’t fault the comfort and service at this hotel and feel it was well worth the money.

The Marcliffe Hotel and Spa, hotel in Peterculter

Situated in Aberdeen, 6.7 km from Beach Ballroom, The Marcliffe Hotel and Spa features accommodation with a fitness centre, free private parking, a garden and a terrace.

Having been to this hotel several times up to 2008 when we left the uk I was concerned that it may not be as good as I remembered. I can happily say that the staff, service, general ambience and food were all as good as ever.

We had a very warm welcome from Alison. The room was comfortable and very clean. The bed linen and towels beautifully clean. We had twin beds which were very comfortable. The tea and coffee tray was really good and we had a bottle of water in our room. The shower was amazing. Breakfast was superb. We also had the honour of meeting lovely Stanley the dog. We only ate in the Chinese restaurant, which was excellent.

We only ate in the Chinese restaurant, which was excellent. Most of our time we were self-catering or eating at the events we attended in the Crathes area. We were in the area for a week-long event based at Crathes castle so weren't in Peterculter village/town very much. Lots of good walking in the area, the bus services are regular in both directions, Aberdeen and Banchory.
