Really great experience. What made it even better was Anita, as we were bit of a loud group but her sense of humour and patience was well appreciated by all of us in the group and she made sure we enjoyed ourselves. Would go back again

With a peaceful, rural location, just 20 minutes from the historic university city of Oxford and just 10 minutes from Abingdon, the hotel is rich in original character and dates to the 19th Century.

Located in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside, the Dog House Hotel has a traditional bar, with an original wood-beamed ceiling, a roaring fire and a patio. Food is available in the bar and in the restaurant and conservatory.

The name of the hotel has an unusual origin. Traditionally, the University of Oxford allowed their students to stable horses, but not the dogs. With nowhere else to house the animals, the proprietor of the local inn offered an invaluable dog-sitting service and the venue became known as the Dog House.

Today, there are 20 comfortable rooms with attached bathroom, including 2 feature rooms. Each room has a TV and tea/coffee making facilities.

  • I have mobility problems so am looking for somewhere that has level access rooms or a lift. Also a toilet in the room with support rails to assist risng. Do you have such a room?

    Good Afternoon, we have 4 level access rooms in our hotel, unfortunately rooms do not have support rails, however we do have a separate disabled toilet just outside the rooms.
