Edward and Louise Taylor purchased the restaurant back in 2018. With a passion for quality and attention to detail, the new team headed by Robert Jones and head chef Richard Nair are here to make your experience in such wonderful surroundings a special and memorable one.
Drapers Hall Restaurant and Boutique Rooms is located right in the centre of Shrewsbury, offering a unique and convenient place to stay with the medieval centre of this historic town only a few minutes walk away. The serviced rooms at Drapers Hall consist of 6 beautiful, charming and individual boutique en-suite bedrooms, most with original features and some with rooftop views over Shrewsbury. There’s no better way to have a memorable stay on a bed and breakfast basis in historic Shrewsbury. All of our bedding is new with new Simba mattresses and luxury duvets, mattress toppers and luxury cotton bed linen. Our passion is quality. With new bone china plates, fine glasses and handmade cutlery to showcase our incredible organic meats and wild game from the Rhug estate near Llangollen, shellfish from Anglesea, award winning British cheeses with hand picked wines to compliment every dish on the menu, even our coffee is roasted to order locally. The restaurant boasts an impressive oak panelled dining hall dated 1658 which leads into a quaint buttery area, accommodating diners looking for a more intimate experience. The contemporary bar area serves snacks and cocktails next to the open log fire and private dining is available in the upstairs lounge and dining room. Shrewsbury is a market town, the centre of which boasts a largely unspoilt medieval street plan and over 660 listed buildings, including several examples of timber framing from the 15th and 16th centuries. The Drapers Hall is located in the heart of the old town centre, next to Saint Mary’s church and a short distance from Shrewsbury Castle, a red sandstone fortification, and Shrewsbury Abbey, a former Benedictine monastery founded in 1074 and 1083 respectively by the Norman Earl of Shrewsbury, Roger de Montgomery. The town is the birthplace of Charles Darwin. Horticulture remains popular, and the Shrewsbury Flower Show is one of the largest horticultural events in England.
