Friendly staff, comfortable bed, lovely room had tea, coffee and kettle in room, food was lovely, beer garden was nice location not far from main Matlock by bus or car 5 minutes or 25 minutes walk,

a reasonably peaceful location a short drive from the town center, easy enough to find your way back. food was outstanding, best part of the stay.

Quiet location, excellent room, friendly and sociable staff. Breakfast was amazing. Could not fault this venue.

Food quality was fantastic. Pub lively and staff fantastic

The property had 2 rooms which was great. The staff were very friendly and food was great.

Lovely friendly staff. Great location and clean room. Funky little window above bed, nice and quite with a lovely surroundings outside the rooms.

Lovely place. Staff were excellent, very friendly and happy to go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable.

I've stayed here a few times before but it's now under new management who are exceptionally helpful and friendly. COVID-safe arrangements were also great. I was glad to be back and it won't be the last time!

Very comfortable accommodation in a beautiful setting. Friendly staff and the pub is only a few yards from the beautifully converted stables which are now lovely en suite rooms. Nice place to stay if you are on a hiking holiday ( I was not, but I would stay here again) Very relaxing to wake up in . And you can bring your dog.

We didn't have breakfast through choice and it was a good location

Rich in original character and traditional charm, this cozy 19th-century country inn offers good beers, affordable food and comfortable rooms with private bathrooms in the converted former stable block.
Originally built in 1866, the Duke of Wellington was once a working farm and an inn for drovers. Traditionally built from Derbyshire limestone, the pub has a slate roof, roaring log fires and extensive gardens. Free wireless internet access is available in the bar.
There are 9 rooms with private bathrooms in the beautifully converted stable block. Set away from the main building, the rooms offer comfort and privacy. The stable block has its own flagstone courtyard and free private parking is available on site. All rooms have TVs and tea/coffee making facilities.
Recently redecorated in a traditional country style, the inn boasts extensive floral gardens with comfortable seating areas. There is also a fully enclosed and heated patio area, overlooking Riber Castle and the Derwent Valley.
