Had to book here slightly off trail for the first night of our coast to coast walk and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Really good meal in the restaurant (nice wine too) and then a great full English before setting off on the trail. Plus it’s a nice location - lovely old hall in a quiet spot.

A farmstead manor home, full of nooks and crannies and "hidden" staircases leading to rooms with views to the various outlying farm buildings and the countryside beyond. Our upstairs room was very comfortable, charming and quiet, with an excellent bathroom. The full English breakfast was top notch. The public spaces, especially the lounge with its multitudinous leather armchairs as a space to relax, were just wonderful. Overall, a great place to escape from it all, and serve as a base to see charming Whitby.
