Just 3 miles from the southern shores of Windermere and Newby Bridge, Ellenboro House Bed & Breakfast & self-catering provides free Wi-Fi and parking. This Lake District property offers two rooms; a double room with attached bathroom in the main house, plus a new semi-self-catering apartment in its own building with a private entrance. The double guest room at Ellenboro House has a flat-screen TV with DVD player and iPod dock, with a double bed and large wardrobe. As well as tea and coffee facilities, there are homemade cakes and biscuits to enjoy. The en-suite shower room has a hairdryer, fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries. The apartment also has a flat-screen TV and digital radio plus facilities including a washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge, kettle, toaster, hob, microwave and egg cooker. Hot drink selections, cakes and biscuits are also provided. The bathroom has upscale toiletries, fluffy towels and a hairdryer. A freshly made full-cooked breakfast is offered each morning to guests in the double room with choices including American pancakes, smoked haddock fishcakes and smashed avocado on sourdough toast. Guests staying in the apartment will be provided with items to prepare their own breakfast including continental meats, cheeses, smoked salmon, fresh fruit, sourdough, yogurts and cereals. The Lakeland Motor Museum and the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway are both just 8 minutes’ drive from Ellenboro House Bed & Breakfast & self-catering. Cartmel Priory is a similar distance away, and the beautiful National Trust property Sizergh Castle is around 15 minutes from Newton-in-Cartmel.

Ellenboro House B&B and self-catering has two rooms, each very different in style. Garden View is the room we've had open the longest and is a double en-suite room in the main house. Guests staying here can enjoy the use of the private snug, where we also serve breakfast. Breakfasts are prepared fresh daily by ourselves. Orchard View is our newest venture, which opened April 2021. It is a semi-self-catering apartment comprising a kitchen, large bathroom, mini utility and a vast bedroom/living area with a log burner. This room is in its own private building with a private entrance and we provide guests with everything you need to make a delicious continental style breakfast, that you will enjoy in your private dining area. Items include eggs, continental meats, cheeses, smoked salmon, fresh fruits and yoghurts. Guests here are treated to a much more spacious room with upscaled amenity kits and a king-sized bed. It's a perfect romantic escape for couples with high spec furnishings and amenities. We're very excited to be welcoming guests into this new venture.
Myself (Sam) and hubby Ian are your hosts. You'll frequently find us pottering in the garden or enjoying a glass of wine by the fire. We're always on hand to answer any questions or help with advice and guidance on what to do, great walks and where to dine. I'm the one who looks after all the main hosting and love to bake for the B&B - something which you will see reflects in the food we offer, such as homemade bread and cakes. Ian tends to look after all the maintenance and DIY so if you arrive to find a 'workman' in the garden, it's most likely Ian. Along with us, our other 'host'/'head receptionist' is Lennon, our friendly rescue dog. We adopted him as a puppy from the Dogs Trust in 2022 and he's been excitedly welcoming guests to the property ever since.
We're located in the small hamlet of Low Newton. There is a fantastic reclamation yard just up the road (Yew Tree Barn) which also has amazing cafe which hosts monthly supper clubs, while fine dining can be enjoyed at local pub, Heft. The village of Cartmel is just three miles away (famed for its sticky toffee pudding and L'Enclume restaurant). There are multiple other dining options in Cartmel and it's a great place to pick up gifts to take home. Also nearby is the small Edwardian town of Grange-over-Sands plus other attractions including Holker Hall and Gardens, Sizergh Castle, Fell Foot Park and Windermere Lake Cruises.
