Barmouth is a lovely seaside town in Wales. It is not overcrowded with activities which means it has kept some of its charm but there is plenty to do. There is a nice beach, a small funfair, a couple of amusements, donkey rides and plenty of lovely places to eat. The harbour is worth a visit and a lot of people enjoy fishing for crabs off the pier. We took a beautiful ferry ride one morning over to Fairbourne and caught a small steam train along the peninsula taking in the sprawling estuary on which Barmouth sits and it is sandwiched between the Snowdonia mountain range. A beautiful view of sea and mountains.

I booked here not knowing what to expect, but thinking it could be some sleepy little fishing town with not much on. But its proximity to the mountains - we came to walk Cader Idris - coupled with the fact that there was a beach was appealing to us.
When we arrived we found a clean, well-maintained town with plenty of options for food and drink, a decent selection of shops - which were thankfully not all tat-filled giftshops, a lovely beach with arcades and a small selection of rides for children.
If you are looking for somewhere to stay that isn't too heaving so that you can relax, unwind in nature, visit the beach, or take in some of the walks, I would recommend a visit.

Beach is beautiful and lots to do with the high street, fun fair and arcade. Lots of places to eat and drink and plenty of places to sit down and enjoy the views. I think no more than a couple of days is about the right amount of time to explore. Plenty of places to park and train station is right in the heart of Barmouth.

Barmouth is a really pretty little town, lovely little beach & sand dunes to walk in. We visited in January so it was nice & quiet, although nice to see plenty of people walking their dogs. We wanted to eat in The Last Inn but they were fully booked, recommend to book in advance. Enjoyed a nice meal in The Barmouth Bar & Grill.

Barmouth is a beautiful place, river side cabin is miles away from Barmouth beach. The hut tub in his picture he is using was not the hot tub we were going to experience our seated two people like a bath. Unfortunately we didn’t have chance to experience it. It was cold and I think the house knew full well that the hot tub was cold he was chancing his arm. His marketing said nonrefundable I’m wondering now why . His facilities will not fit for purpose . Be aware if booking Riverside Cabin.
We were made to feel welcome from the second that we set foot into Bluebells Guest House by Bryn and his wife.
The guest house is located just a short walk from the town of Barmouth (probably about 5 minutes) but is right on the seafront.
The room was comfortable and quiet with a TV plus tea and coffee making facilities.
Breakfast was excellent, we had the full English both mornings but there were other choices of hot food, plus cereal and fruit.
We had an excellent stay at Bluebells Guest House and will definitely be back!
Location was fantastic, just a 5 minutes walk into Barmouth but far enough out for it to be very quiet and peaceful. Hotel is up quite a steep hill but its absolutely worth it for the amazing sea views. Our rooms overlooked the sea and were very clean and spacious and recently renovated. Bar was good especially the views from the beer garden. Breakfast was good which again we were able to enjoy outside watching the chickens. Also every member of staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful.
This is a lovely boutique hotel in the seaside town of Barmouth. It was so friendly, the staff could not have been more helpful. The room was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean with complimentary Molton Brown toiletries. Breakfast was very efficient and delicious. Good range of cold and hot choices beautifully cooked and presented. Fresh pastries and fruit as well. It was excellent value.
The staff were very good the room was old and tired but very Clean no chairs In the room falling to bits wardrobe and 2old pieces of furniture very old bathroom the cleaner did a excellent job considering what she had to work with the food was good the position of the hotel was very good we went for budget price this time to see what you got for the money won't do that again
The owner is very friendly and helpful,
The place is very clean and comfortable and all utensils and electrical appliances supplied, towels bedding included,
Beautiful outstanding views,
It was based in a central location in the middle of the town which gave immediate use of shops and restaurants,
Situated very close to the harbour and fantastic Sandy beach
Great place for a short break in Barmouth , best dog friendly hotel my wife and I have stayed at . Room was lovely overlooking the sea , food was lovely as were the staff . Great location in a place we love. Ideally located close to the beach and a short walk into Barmouth the perfect place for dog friendly break 😀👍
Stunning views in peaceful location yet not far from town. Swimming pool and whirlpool surprisingly warm. Our kids loved it. Spotlessly clean and in perfect repair. Great facilities clear, efficient communication and complimentary bottle of wine made us feel special and valued on a budget break.
Fantastic hotel which is full of character, friendly staff, great location and hard to beat for watching the sunset! Ended up being the only guest, due to works being carried out, and had a lovely evening meal and breakfast cooked just for me, felt lucky to have such a wonderful place to myself!
Excellent location and wonderful view of the beach. The proprietors were great, helpful and friendly. Beautiful breakfast served and they even served us early so we could catch a bus. They called taxi for a trip to a restaurant outside Barmouth-very helpful and pleasant people.
Beautiful, clean and stylish, well equipped apartment. Great location, right in the centre of town. Nice welcome pack and a very comprehensive Information pack and very good communication from vendors ensuring that everything went without a hitch.
The hotel was a little out of Barmouth, but we chose it because of this. It was lovely to walk into town, which we did a couple of times. The room was very nice and the staff were helpful and friendly.
- The hotel is right next to the beach.
- Soap is provided in dispensers next to the sink and shower.
- Full English breakfast is included.
- The town is a 5 minute walk away.
- Cheap.
We liked everything about this hotel , a lovely room. Great breakfast , staff were very attentive, carpark round the corner 2 mins walk .
