I only visit when I have to, visiting family. I have made several trips over four years. First impression was of a grubby town, streets and public spaces covered in litter. Sprawling industrial parks on the outskirts. Ubiquitous pavement parking makes it dangerous pulling out of residential side streets. I have found little of cultural interest to do in the city, apart from the museum, which has been closed for refurbishment. No decent venues for live music or theatre that I am aware of. Easy enough to get a basic and pleasant meal from the usual restaurant chains. I haven't made much attempt to research into more interesting venues for eating out, apart from RK dining which is great for vegetarian/Asian takeaways. I think there is a good range of different cuisines if you look for it. I guess the University is Preston's saving grace from being a purely industrial town. It is reasonably easy to navigate the city centre on foot or by car, and regular buses. It does have a good number of well maintained and accessible public parks, and a good walking route via the Guild wheel. Brockholes is a good place for nature, although close to a motorway. A range of pleasant areas of Lancashire countryside are a short drive outside city.

Preston is a lovely town.
Preston is a lovely town. I visit because I have close family there, but I wouldn't say it is a hub for tourists. There are fantastic attractions, like Hoghton Tower, and the downtown area is very quaint. When with family, we usually go to a great fairly local pub or other restaurant for lunch/dinner, and there are plenty of those with great food and ambiance. I love going for walks in the local area.

Developing City with a nice shopping and pedestrian precinct. Many eat out options. We lunched once at M & S cafe as we always know we get good VFM there! Overall, Preston surprised us; it was much better than we had anticipated!

Stayed In Wyreside Cottage Garstang, everything you need and more was supplied in this cosy home. Five minute walk to High Street with some lovely restaurants and cafes. Good walks in the area. Also plenty of shops and supermarket.
Because I was in need of an own kitchen, this was the ideal solution for me! Big cosy room with a great bathroom and everything I needed was available in the kitchen.
It was a 10 minute walk from the city center of Preston, as well as the train station, and also closeby the Avenham and Miller parks. I did it all on foot, so easy was it to reach everything, but the buses stop almost in front of the accomodation.
Perfect location for a visit to the city of Preston!
For a budget hotel this is far better than expected, easily giving a travelodge a run for its money! Far more comfortable bed, decent shower though low pressure. Very quiet with little road noise. The inclusion of breakfast which was basic but very filling was a huge bonus, the adjacent pub where you take this meal was clean and quiet in the morning. If you are travelling for work into Preston by car or have the cash for a taxi, then this is an ideal place to stay.
Everything. The staff were incredibly kind, understanding and chill. The decor was really nice, the beds were COMFY! The breakfast was very nice. A very nice touch that I love is they had things bought from local independent businesses. They even let us take some drinks and pastries for the journey home! And the price was a LOT cheaper than other "budget" hotels.
Definitely staying here again!
Also phone them directly if you want a better price!
Room was very nice and clean, it was very hot and the temperature control could only be put down to 18c so it was little uncomfortable.
The windows could only be opened a little for safety reasons and this did help a little.
The bed was very comfy and the buffet breakfast was very good, lots of choice of cooked or continental.
Good parking nearby at the bus station which was much cheaper than the hotel parking which was full anyway!
The room was amazing , very modern and clean .We stayed in the " reflection suite " which was so comfy and the bathroom just brilliant . The staff were very friendly and nothing was a problem . They made a fuss over our baby girl which was nice . Even put a birthday balloon in our room for my wife . Location amazing , 2 mins from the train station and in Preston city center . We cant wait to go again .
Lovely modern apartment with great facilities - especially the bath😍 The apartment was nice and clean and the bed was super comfortable! Short walk into Preston city centre. No car park on site but there is a car park a 2 minute walk away (£10.00 for 24 hours). The sweets and biscuits in the room were a nice touch and the complimentary upgrade made our day. We would highly recommend 😊
Breakfast was excellent, bed was comfortable the place was busy, so that's always a good sign...
Fantastic service all round.
If I need another room while in Preston again, I'll be sure to stay here.
Direct transport links (buses) and taxi was about £5 from taxi rank across road from train station...
The hotel is conveniently located near the train station, but sufficiently far away from main roads to afford a quiet atmosphere. I enjoyed a peaceful and relaxed weekend stay.
My bedroom was extremely clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
We travelled down to Preston from Glasgow for a family wedding. Hotel was only 20 minutes away from the wedding venue so for us location was perfect.
The hotel was beautiful, rooms were lovely, spacious and clean.
Staff extremely helpful.
Would definitely stay here again.
Hotel brilliant and clean ,manager great , staff behind the bar need to get some manners felt uncomfortable as they were sniggering and talking about us as we was dressed for a festival, we ended up taking drinks in our room as it wasn't a nice feeling getting talked about
The hotel is very much a boutique hotel with all the right details. My room was spacious and incredibly clean, linen and towels were fresh.
Breakfast was made to order and delicious. Service is above and beyond and the cherry on top is that it’s owner operated.
The hotel was located just a short walk from the city center. The room was clean and tidy and of a good size, the hotel was very tidy and the breakfast in the morning was a buffet and the choice was very good.
Staff were all very nice and helpful. The hotel in general and our room were perfectly clean. Food was nice. Plenty of parking spaces. We won't mess around next time we stay in Preston, we'll just book here :-)
Location, convenient just off m6 and better than a Travelodge. Good meal in the restaurant and a better alternative to services.
Room decor is not modern but in keeping with other Macdonald Hotels.
