Visited in the summer. Lovely place to stay, thoughtfully decorated with everything we needed. Hosts were friendly & helpful and communicated well. Great location close to the river and all the amenities of the town. It was nice to have our own little outdoor area to sit out.

What a treat staying here was. I have family in the area and was staying for a wedding. Having visited many times staying with family this was a gem of a find for a longer stay. Glorious decor. Extremely clean. All the little extras you need like plenty of Toiletries and extra towels something hotels always lack. Welcoming host who helped deal with a minor issue that turned out to be nothing but he arrived and dealt with an error on my part swiftly and on a sunday! I would definitely recommend this place to stay such a fun beautiful stay. We will most definitely be back

The host was very welcoming. There was everything you needed equipment wise such as kitchen utensils and washing facilities. The decor is very tasteful. There is a small garden area. It is opposite a pub,which we don't mind as we like to hear happy noises, but some others may wish to consider this . The Town is a very short walk away ,and the river. All in all we were happy with where we stayed.

The location was perfect. There were plenty of shops nearby. Central location. The place was beautifully decorated throughout and very clean. My mum loved the fact that forge house was all on the level and on the ground floor as she has difficulty managing stairs.

  • Hi, is this a full property with full kitchen or just kettle and microwave? Is the bedroom on the ground floor?
    Hi, the apartment is all on the ground floor of 18 Century house, with it's own front door. We have an open plan living room and kitchen. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking; oven, hob, crockery, saucepans, cutlery, inc a washer dryer.

    There is parking directly outside the house, on a single yellow line. Pay & Display parking on Wood Street and St Peter’s Street and there is free long stay parking on Thames Street. The two nearest car parks are Thames street & Cattlemarket.

We’re offering discounts on longer stays and taking extra care to disinfect frequently between reservations. This sumptuously renovated holiday let is suitable for up to 3 people (or 2 adults x 2 small children). It has been fitted out to a high standard. The fully equipped apartment is in the Art Deco style with a 'nod' to our famous local resident 'Agatha Christie'. The house is situated in a quiet street in the center of this lovely market town which is on the banks of the River Thames and surrounded by beautiful countryside.
Chris and Philippa own Forge House. Philippa is an Interior Designer with a hotel background, hence the high standard of the interiors, comfort and extra touches.
Wallingford is a wonderful market town situated on the banks of the River Thames, situated between Reading (12 miles), Henley-on-Thames (11 miles) and Oxford (13 miles) and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Wallingford is steeped in history and the remains of Wallingford's Motte and Bailey castle and the Castle Gardens are a great place to explore and a good venue for a summer picnic. You can also trace Wallingford’s Saxon past at the museum which offers local history walks and other events. Wallingford also has a strong presence in murder mystery fiction. Agatha Christie (whose remains are buried at nearby Cholsey) lived and worked in Wallingford, taking influence from local landmarks and residents in Winterbrook for stories such as Miss Marple. Our apartment has been influenced by this 'Queen of Crime' and you will find lots of references to her books and plays. See what clues you can find. More recently, Wallingford is the location of Causton in the TV series Midsomer Murders. Many of the series’ extras herald from Wallingford and much of the filming is completed in this beautiful part of the country.
