The apartment was in a small quiet neighbourhood. The accommodations were cozy, especially the little fireplace. The Newsroom Pub right across the street was convenient and quaint. It was also near some interesting short-drive sights. Also free parking. We’d stay here again anytime.

Beautiful cottage, home from home :) everything you could possibly need.

The beds were amazingly comfortable. The house was very home like and cozy

Cosy - sooo comfortable - especially the beds - great location for exploring Derbyshire - 2 bars 2 minute walk and their great - we are definitely going back for our girlie catch ups

Nice location cottage very quaint and cosy log burner very nice on a cold evening

Lovely little cottage , clean tidy and cosy two large comfy beds

Lovely cosy little cottage, very clean and well presented. The beds in both rooms were very comfortable and king size .

Location, cosy. Easy to find.Clean and comfortable

The little cottage is a delight! I visited with my mum and friend and we found the cottage spotlessly clean and very cosy and welcoming! Everything there you could possibly need from the fluffy white towels to books and board games. The location and access to the keys was easy and parking no problem on the little driveway and on the road (as we took 2 cars). There is a lovely little terrace with table and chairs off the kitchen and a sweet little front garden to enjoy a morning cup of coffee. Jo could not have been any more welcoming even though we never met her! Just great contact throughout the booking with recommendations of where to visit - so now we need to go back as we just didn't have time to fit it all in!! Highly recommended.

A beautiful, cosy little cottage in an excellent location. The cottage has everything you need for your break. Kitchen comes with all utensils and cooking equipment plus complimentary coffee, tea, sugar and milk. A good sized bathroom with a shower and a bath. 2 good sized bedrooms with the most comfortable super king sized beds that I have ever slept on. WiFi and tv were an added bonus as was the little gift of wine and chocolates 😊 We loved our stay in this cottage 🥰

The cottage was built in 1740 and combines quirky character with all modern comforts, so you'll find exposed beams and stonework, a wood burning stove and original fireplaces. Plus all the comfort of superking sized beds, and all the modern touches you need to enjoy your stay from wifi and central heating, to a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, and both a bath and a shower in the roomy bathroom. Plus we leave a bottle of wine and treats for all guests, along with the usual complementary tea and coffee. You'll feel right at home! (Please note this is an old cottage on three floors, and isn't suitable for small children or those with mobility issues. Also, we are very lucky to be one of the few properties in the area with off street parking, but it is up a narrow drive, and drivers of larger cars might prefer to park next to the cottage on Smedley St East (where parking is restricted between 8am and 6pm, but unrestricted over night and at weekends) or on Henry Avenue which is unrestricted at all times.
Corona update - please note we disinfect all surfaces including handles and light switches with an anti-viral during every clean, and all laundry is boil-washed in house. I've lived in the Peak District for over a decade, and have walked many of its beautiful hills and valleys with my dogs, yet still constantly find new places to explore and enjoy, and love to help point my guests in the right direction of fun things to see and do in the area. Having stayed in many holiday homes around the country, I aim to make the cottage somewhere I'd love to stay in myself...hopefully we haven't forgotten anything that can possibly be added to the cottage but we are always after ideas from our guests. I live 10 minutes away so am always available is there's a problem - please feel free to call me at any time.
The cottage is just a 10 minute walk from all the shops and restaurants in Matlock, and is set in the quiet area of Matlock Bank, a Victorian spa village. The cottage is the perfect base to explore Matlock and the Peak District, whether you want to visit the year round attractions of nearby Chatsworth House, the jewel of the Peak District, or the stunning Medieval Haddon Hall with it's romantic rose garden. Perhaps you want to roam around the many quaint local villages like Winster, and Birchover offering stunning country walks and cosy pubs. You could head to nearby Youlgreave and take a picnic along the river in summer, or cosy up fireside in a pub in winter. Or take a walk to Matlock Bath for fish and chips, or a cable car up to the Heights of Abraham. Catch the Peak Rail steam train, take a leisurely walk along the Monsal Trail, be stunned by the view at Monsal Head, or Baslow Edge, or Curbar Gap. Hire a bike at Middleton Top. Spot trout in the clear waters of Lathkill Dale, or walk up to the dizzy heights of Mam Tor. Or, if that all sounds too energetic, just walk into Matlock and enjoy a meal or drinks, with a choice of several highly rated restaurants and wine bars.
