We enjoyed the room, the general in-house facilities and particularly the dining cuisine and dining room. We also enjoyed the extensive grounds and by-ways close to. The room, which was a larger room facing the river, was very comfortable and clean as was the bathroom. The room was serviced daily and coffee/sugar etc replenished.

The location overlooking a river and extensive green fields is idyllic and feels straight out of a magazine or post card. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed, staff is super friendly and the food is excellent. We had breakfast inclusive in our room rate and really enjoyed the wide range of both healthy and indulgent options to choose from.

  • Hi, do you allow dogs to stay at the hotel?

    Dogs are not allowed inside the hotel or bedrooms at all. They are welcome on the terrace and within the grounds and we do have 2 kennels available to book free of charge (though some guests prefer to leave their dogs in the car over night).

  • Hello, I would like to know if a large double room would suit for 2 adults and 3 children ( 5, 8 and 11) ? Would it be possible to add additional beds ? Thank you so much in advance,

    Hello, only one of our large cottage rooms would have enough space - Cottage Room 3 with a sofa bed for the two smaller children to share plus space to add a camp bed. Please let us know if you would like to check availabilty for any specific dates?

  • do any of the rooms have a walk in shower ?

    We have one ground floor cottage room with a bathroom suitable for wheelchair users. There are two rooms in the main hotel with walk in showers - located on the first floor. (The hotel does not have a lift).

  • Can you give me directions from crickowell?

    Gliffaes is located 2.5 miles west of Crickhowell off the A40 heading west towards Brecon. Look for the sign on the right if coming from Crickhowell and turn left up the lane for a mile before you reach the hotel's gates.

  • Does the hotel have a lift or are there rooms on the ground floor.?

    The hotel does not have a lift. There is one ground floor room located just across the lawn from the main hotel building. Cottage Room 4 - Ground Floor - suitable for wheelchairs Situated in the delightful cottage over the lawn from the main hotel, this pretty room offers full wheelchair accessibility. Cottage Room 4 is furnished with a king-sized bed, although can be twin bedded at your request. The spacious en-suite is equipped with a walk-in shower for mobility access. The room shares a private entrance with its upstairs neighbour, Cottage Room 3, via a wheelchair accessible ramp. There is also parking directly outside the entrance.

Gliffaes has a very warm and homely feel to it, a guest once said to me, "staying here is like staying with a rich uncle."

James & Susie Suter are the third generation of Susie's family to run Gliffaes. Her family took over Gliffaes in 1948 - so there is a fair bit of family history here. I think being 'hands on' owners means that we are around most of the time to ensure standards are high and we think the personal touch is so important in looking after guests. We don't just drop in once a month to collect the rent.
