Excellent room , great breakfast , nice dinner and enjoyable cocktails .

The staff couldn’t do more to welcome us and everyone was courteous. At breakfast they found themselves short staffed owing to Covid isolations and we had to wait a few minutes to be able to be seated but this was not anyone’s fault and the young lady sorting everything out and keeping things going was just superb. The breakfast itself was fantastic. The location is perfect for the town and castle grounds (especially if attending a concert there)! The room was a very good size; the bathroom clean and nicely fitted; free parking and the building is just lovely.

The room was beautiful! The shower/bathroom, decor and bed were very luxurious. The food, restaurant, bar, drinks and all interactions with the staff was just excellent. Can't fault any of that. Parking was fab, no problems at all. The location was wonderful, we really enjoyed exploring an autumnal Colchester. Will definitely be returning.

    All rates quoted for stays at GreyFriars are based on single or double occupancy; some suites do have the capacity for additional beds and cots to be added for young children if required, with a nominal charge.

  • Do you have a honeymoon suite?

    Due to all our rooms being individually designed and unique, we do not have a specific honeymoon suite. However, our Deluxe and Signature Suites are usually the most popular for guests booking for this purpose.

  • I would like to book a room for 2 people and bring our Chihuahua. Can I book any room or is there specific rooms that are dog friendly?
