If visiting a local race yard obviously Newmarket is a base.
If visiting a local race yard obviously Newmarket is a base. The race horse museum is very good - allow 4hrs to do thoroughly.
Get up early and watch racehorses on the gallops.
Otherwise Newmarket is very run down these days. High street has many boarded up premesis and low grade eateries.
Nice curry house and Italian.
If we came again we’d stay in Cambridge and get a 20 min train.

The only thing I did not like was the description of the location provided by the owner of the Golden Boar was deceiving and not honest. I was led to believe by the description given to the location that it was in walking distance of Newmarket and as I have a very good knowledge of Newmarket for nearly 40 years I was horrified that I was in a small village with absolutely no public transport, no shop, WiFi on my own phone would not work due to the building and impossible to log onto the property WiFi my partner was in Dubai and this made life very difficult for us.
The property was actually 8 miles from Newmarket as told to me by all the taxi drivers I had. I was fortunate the taxi company had one or two drivers which would take my dog otherwise I would have been in extreme difficulty. The property is actually closer to Mildenhall and Bury St Edmunds than Newmarket as described. The taxis there and back even with me walking many miles still cost virtually £100 over the day and half I was staying.
Easy walk into Newmarket, or 2 minute drive. 5 min drive to Exning equine hospital. 5 minute drive to the station. 6 minute drive to Bedford Lodge hotel and spa. Easy walk to supermarket and fish and chip shop. Clean, large 1 bed apartment. Not big enough for 4, even though there is a sofa bed in the living room and large king in the bedroom. Good broadband. Nice desk area. Dining table not really usable, so ate on knees. Host very available if needed. Housekeeping ladies very efficient and polite. Warm and cosy.
Very comfortable room with great facilities. Gym and pool were excellent. Breakfast was one of the best I've had in a hotel. Freshly cooked to order, wide range of items and a continental buffet also. Dinner was very nice too. Best of all was the staff. Very attentive, friendly and great at their job. In particular, Nicola at breakfast and Shelley at dinner were lovely.
Plenty of free parking and good WiFi. Newmarket itself doesn't have a lot to offer to be honest but there were a number of good pubs.
This accommodation was hi speck very clean plenty of hot water and lots of choice on tv including prime only 0.6 miles from town centre and just 3 miles from Newmarket races breakfast had a large choice the owner was happy to be emailed as we wanted to check in earlier this was not a problem and we contacted him 15 minutes before and he met us at the property there was parking outside we spoke to the owner who was happy to provide extra pillows etc if required very nice man
The room was spacious enough but it had very little storage space for our clothes. We were there for three nights and had a reasonable amount of clothing with us but we had no where to put it and had to use our car for storage.
However, the staff were excellent. Very friendly and helpful. I accidentally left my suit on a hanger in the room. I phoned the hotel the next day and within three days it arrived at my home, boxed and folded. Great service!
The location was great. 5 minute walk from the High Street and supermarkets if you're self-catering. The house was very comfortable and warm. Exceptionally clean. We could easily have stayed longer than 2 nights (2 adults and 2 adult children). There were lots of little extras - nice selection of teas and coffees, toiletries, etc. Well-equipped kitchen.
The huge statement bath and bath bubbles were such a treat.
The great sized comfortable bed meant we enjoyed a good night's sleep.
Lovely views from the windows. Peaceful location.
The inn downstairs served up the most amazing food for our evening meal.
In Newmarket High Street, the second time we have stayed at the White Hart. Staff are very helpful and they serve a good breakfast which is discounted for hotel guests. Ample onsite parking and ewe will return for the July meeting.
Highly recommend..a lovely secluded hotel just on the edge of Newmarket less than 3 minutes drive to town centre...the guy on the desk was great polite friendly and courteous ( top marks)..a must stay and great value for money
Great customer service and the single room was actually a bit bigger than I expected. Location is great too since you can just walk out and explore the town during the day. I also enjoyed the dinner service as well.
The breakfast was very good, same as of the staff and cleanliness. The venue offers something a little different with character and is well situated on the High Street. We certainly think about staying here again.
Lovely comfortable bed in a spotlessly clean room. Quiet location, within walking distance of Newmarket Town centre. Excellent value for money and exactly what we needed.
Private entrance, off street parking, and nice city center of Newmarket is close by. Also not far from Mildenhall RAF and Lakenheath RAF are only a 25min drive.
The location is right in the middle of Newmarket high street, so shops, bars restaurants on the doorstep. Free parking for guests and the breakfast sublime!
