The Captains Quarters is one of the most central Guest Houses in Berwick upon Tweed. We offer extremely flexible accommodation for Single occupancy only including business professionals, solo visitors, cyclists. We are only accepting bookings for single occupancy but if you have any queries please do get in touch. We have six beautiful boutique rooms each designed in their own unique way with a different theme. Our building is a sea merchants 17th century grade II listed townhouse. Please note due to the conservation area we are located in we do not have parking facilities onsite. However within a 2 minute walk there is free all day parking on the quays beside the Chandlery. Drive down Hyde Hill, through Sandgate past Queens Head Hotel & through the ancient archway. From this car park we are a 2 min walk down the little lane called 'Sallyport' which is just beside the car park facing the water. We also own a sister company called 'Deyn's Deli' located on Marygate, car park, which serves scrumptious breakfast, lunch, pastries and homemade cakes.

I have been doing hospitality for over 30 years, and I feel very passionate about beautiful rooms and good food. I like to personalise each of the rooms, so they have a unique and quirky character. I was brought up on a farm in the borders, just three miles from Berwick. I am fascinated about the history of the town and I think Northumberland is such a beautiful place to live.

The house is located in the “old town” close to the stunning waterfront and old dock, with many walking trails around to explore the local area. Everything is at hand in this beautiful atmospheric part of Berwick: restaurants, café’s, the theatre, real ale bars and privately owned boutique shops. The railway station is only an 11 minute walk away. The train line will take you both North to Edinburgh city centre or South to Newcastle city centre within 45 minutes. We are situated down a little cobbled lane called “Sallyport” which is quiet yet very central. This little lane was once painted by L.S.Lowry many moons ago, and forms part of the Lowry Trail. This part of town is steeped in nautical history. Our entrance to the house is half way down 'Sallyport' lane at the wrought iron gate. Please open the gate and ring the bell and one of our staff will give you a very warm welcome.
