FAQs about hotels in Bristol

From Brunel to Banksy!

Britain’s 4th most popular visitor destination, Bristol boasts Brunel’s magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge spanning the River Avon. More Brunel handiwork is in the harbour where his SS Great Britain steamship is moored. Pirate walks here detail the city’s underground naval history.

Further north in Clifton is the world’s oldest zoo outside a capital city. Other Bristol attractions include At-Bristol Museum and the Grade I-listed Corn Exchange with its 4 "nails" outside where money changed hands. Also worth a visit is St Nicholas Market, in a Georgian square home to several bars and a Slow Food Market on the 1st Sunday of every month. Other Bristol shopping options include shopping centres at Cabot Circus, and Cribbs Causeway on the outskirts.

As a student city, Bristol really comes to life after dark. The live music scene here is fantastic and has given way to several internationally known bands, but for something more alternative head to Eastside.

Another option for alternative-seekers is the work of hometown street artists Banksy. Just like Booking.com’s Bristol accommodation, his work is spread throughout this fabulous city.

This Gateway to the West Country is served by Bristol Airport and Temple Meads train station. The old Bristol to Bath railway line is now a cycle route and makes a great day trip.

I liked the shopping in Bristol and the people were friendly. There are so many parts of Bristol that you would need a few days to see it all. And of course its home to Banksy, which I managed to see. There is a lot of Graffiti Art, which is amazing, but there is a lot of 'normal' graffiti which is an eyesore. The Clean Air Zones are expensive if your only visiting, £27 for two and a bit days, If you went for a week it would a lot to your break, for nothing in return. And there seems to be a lot of Traffic lights and roundabouts lol

Bristol is a great little city.

Bristol is a great little city. Nice to see some of the UK outside of London. Very close to Bath, Cardiff, and other interesting places to see. We stayed in Clifton which is a very charming little village just above the city center and very easy to get to. Parking is a bit of a challenge but we managed to figure it out quite quickly.

Bristol is a place with a lot of history & the S.S.

Bristol is a place with a lot of history & the S.S. Great Britain ship is well worth visiting. Clifton Bridge & its surrounding area is worth visiting too. Bristol though is the graffiti capital of Europe - sadly most of it has little artistic value and the city is definitively car unfriendly with so many road restrictions and cameras everywhere.

We pre booked a trip before we arrived so just stuck to that. Hotel was fab next to an amazing bakery Ahh Toots it’s a must, food exceptional and the staff are too. We ate at the Little French which was the best and we also went to the Lido which you must visit- you need to book both before your visit as they are both very popular places.

This was our second stay at The Bristol Hotel, and it was...

This was our second stay at The Bristol Hotel, and it was just as amazing two years on. On arrival we were greeted at Reception by friendly and helpful staff, but throughout our stay every member of staff we passed in the corridor asked how were were and if we needed anything. Impressed with the efficient and welcoming staff team. Our Classic double room had a coffee machine, nice toiletries, comfy kind size bed and good shower and we were thrilled to be allocated a bedroom looking out on the waterside. The breakfast in the morning was outstanding, the standard of food was high, with big selection of lovely Danish pastries, banana bread, croissants: my husband had the fried breakfast which he said was great, and I ordered porridge which was made especially, and this came piping hot , the gentleman serving us remembered I requested honey on the side. We had a lovely break at this hotel, and recommend this hotel to anyone that wants a family or romantic break, it is in a great location right by the waterfront and is near all the bars and restaurants, Bristol Hippodrome, The Bristol Beacon (Music Venue). Look forward to our next time and a thank you to the staff for making our stay so welcome and relaxing.

Our family absolutely loved the room and surely the hotel. It was a big, comfortable room, just perfect for a family of four. We liked as well the fact that it was just 6-7 mins walk from Bristol Temple meads station. Very near to the hotel, just accross the road, there was a bus station, but as we prefer to walk, the city centre was accessible in just 10-15 mins walk, perhaps less if you do not have small children. The breakfast was very good as well. We had a very pleasant stay 😊

A brilliant modern hotel. We loved the spacious stylish room with all the facilities you need and comfortable, generous beds. The superior room option was great, enabling an earlier check-in and later check-out. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Location is ideal for Bristol Temple Meads and for exploring the city if you enjoy walking, but also easy to jump on the train to see Bath and good bus connections.

The location was good, it's close enough to the centre of Bristol that it wasn't particularly difficult to find. The beds were comfortable, the staff were friendly and everything was clearly explained. It's worth noting that there's a number that you need to call if the cafe is closed to book into the hotel, but the staff answered quickly and came around to greet me.

The location was important - and was very good. The car park was convenient and the signage to the hotel from there was excellent. The room was quiet for a city centre and was very clean, but the heating didn't appear to work properly and it felt cold despite turning it up.
