This delightful little country house offers relaxed surroundings with many of the services of a hotel. This licensed country house has an attractive dining room, a sitting room, and a refurbished bar with a wood-burning stove. Only the one-bed apartment allows 1-2 well behaved dogs by prior arrangement. The B&B rooms DO NOT The House offers 3 B&B rooms (no pets) and a one-bedroom self-catering apartment which welcomes 1-2 well-behaved dogs on request. Located on a quiet residential lane in Yelverton, Harrabeer is conveniently placed to enjoy the outdoor activities in and around Dartmoor. The property is only 5 miles from Tavistock (Market Town of the Year) and 9 miles from Plymouth for shopping, culture and nightlife.

Harrabeer is a characterful house with a 17th century heart and a Victorian wing. Renovated for 2022, our three individually designed guest rooms feature designer fabric, selected artwork and vintage and antique treasures and are set in the Victorian wing. The two self-catering apartments (one dog-friendly) are in the converted 17th century barn with original exposed stonework and beams. PLEASE NOTE: We are currently changing our payment system. Until it's up and running, we're taking full payment on arrival and no deposits in advance. Breakfast is served in our airy Victorian dining room and the beamed guest lounge – a 1650s Devon longhouse – has a woodburner and well-stocked honesty bar, and a cocktail of the day is served at 6.30pm. The covered verandah and tranquil garden are also at all guests’ disposal, as are plentiful books and games. Situated on a quiet residential lane, Harrabeer is just a short walk from Yelverton’s shops, eateries and pub, and from the moor itself. Records show that there's been a dwelling at Harrabeer for around a thousand years - 'Harrabeer' means 'wood of many hares' in Old English. Today, the House is owned by Nicky, who arrived here in May 2021. With a background in corporate hospitality, communications and interior design, she offers warm hospitality, inviting interiors and the personal touch at Harrabeer. If you feel like you’re staying at a friend’s country house while you’re here, then her mission is accomplished! Percy and Jemima are our house cats and can be relied on to keep guests entertained. Be assured, they’re banned from guests’ rooms and kept downstairs at night. But otherwise, Percy in particular loves a lap and if you want to (and you’d be surprised how many people do want to!) you’re welcome to play ‘feather stick’ or ‘red dot’ with them – the cat toys are in the bar!
Harrabeer Country House is an historic gem in the heart of Dartmoor. Dating from the 1650s, we offer three stylish bed and breakfast rooms and two gorgeous self-catering apartments in the converted barn, with free parking and bike storage. An easy walk from Yelverton village, with its shops, pub and cafés, we're ideally placed for walkers, cyclists and holidaymakers to explore glorious Dartmoor.
