United States of AmericaHartfell House is a beautiful extremely well kept period building. The room we stayed in was lovely and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and we would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone. I was sad to leave as we only stayed one night. We will go then again is ever in the area.

CanadaAccommodation and breakfast very good. The house is imposing and impressive and was constructed, I was told by the owners, for a doctor who prospered when Moffat was a spa town. Reminded me, somewhat, of the big (oversized?) private residences built in Harrogate when it prospered as a spa town

Hartfell House guest house is situated in a peaceful rural setting in a designated "Outstanding Conservation Area" on the edge of the town of Moffat. It overlooks the surrounding hills, yet is only a few minutes walk from Moffat's attractive town centre. The building is of local stone, and is officially 'Listed' as being of architectural interest, dating from around 1850. The guest house accommodation includes 7 spacious and tastefully furnished bedrooms, each with en-suite facilities. A full Scottish breakfast is cooked to order and a continental buffet is also provided. Home baked bread, freshly ground coffee and a selection of speciality teas are on offer to complement the cereals, fruits and fresh juices. Guests can dine in the award wining Limetree Restaurant, open for dinner Tuesday to Saturday. Chef Matt Seddon uses the best seasonal ingredients and makes the most of local suppliers in order to produce a charismatic blend of modern and traditional cooking with Scottish and global influence. Standing in gardens of lawns and trees, and providing an atmosphere of peaceful relaxation, Hartfell House is perfect for a short break holiday. A warm welcome awaits all guests.

Moffat is a town perfect for relaxing. There are a number of great walks within the town and local hills and the coast to coast Southern Upland way passes nearby. Within a few miles is the dramatic scenery of the Devil’s Beef Tub and the beauty of the Grey Mare’s Tail Nature Reserve. The Moffat Golf Course offers a challenge to golfers of all abilities. Moffat is also renowned for its wide selection of independent specialist shops and cafés, perfect for browsing.
