Loved driving around the coastal road, quirky towns and villages, people so friendly, stunning countryside. Quirky and different!!! So very quiet and peaceful. Easy driving around as not too much traffic even though roads are sometimes narrow! Went to a small quirky market by harbour in annan town really nice stalls and people. A very chilled vibe wherever we went.

A mixture of 17 Th Century red sandstone buildings with a wide Main Street indicating an old market town. Many buildings had references to Robert Burns. It’s got a harbour and lots of “old fashioned “ individual businesses. Worth at least a day on its own or 2 to 3 as a base if you want to explore Dumfries and Galloway !

A nice place to stay for one or two nights. In this small town you can get a really good fisk and chips.
You can have a great evening at the local pub and have a chat with the locals.
There are two places worth visiting if you enjoy drinking alcohol. Annandale destillery. Very nice place to take the tour and the local gin destillery.

Nice riverside walks. Powfoot close by for seaside walks.
Only a few shops in the main street. Due to covid, lots of empty buildings.
A few eating places.
The Bluebell inn is a nice, quiet and friendly pub, worth a visit.
The corner house hotel where we stayed serve snacks at lunchtime, which are very nice and reasonable in price.

One night stopover on way back from Northern Scotland.
Delightful position overlooking the Solway Firth- good for walks along the beach and birdwatching. Had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Dinner was a tapas style menu and was delicious. Very wide choice for breakfast.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly.
Coffee machine in room also made tea, but the water was only lukewarm. Better with a kettle!
What wasn't to like! The room was comfortable and clean and had everything I needed. Top marks to the housekeeper who does a fantastic job and apologies I've forgotten your name. Paola deserves a special mention, from reception duties to breakfast, excellent service. Don't lose her it wouldn't be the same. The hotel is slap bang in the middle of the High Street in Annan too, so central for everything local.
Fantastic hotel, room was lovely with a large bathroom, comfy bed, nice furnishings, overlooking the water.
All the staff were friendly and helpful.
Dinner was really good with plenty of different dishes to choose from. Breakfast was also great, and plentiful.
Would definitely recommend the Powfoot to anyone wanting a perfect quiet get-away.
Just wish we could have stayed for more than one night!
Beautiful hotel on the coast overlooking a golf course.wonderful views from the window and a beautiful deck just outside our bedroom. Very sturdy and watertight double door to the deck, tested by the strong winds and rain that evening. Wonderful dinner and breakfast. Nice menu with smoked fish selections for bkfst and extra attentive staff. Ample free parking.
Very generous with ammount of food given, we visit our daughter in Annan got a very picky eater of a grandson but he loves coming for breakfast with us and the do cater for him being very picky. Also enjoy a little drink before going to our room in the evening so love that the bar is open until eleven at night. No Noise.

The hotel is located on the edge of the Solway Firth with views across to Cumbria. The staff were helpful and friendly Good Scottish breakfast and an interesting tapas type menu for dinner with a variety of imaginative choices.
The breakfast is amazing. The host is wonderful. The town is also very good with some wonderful walls either along the River Annan up to Brydekirk or down towards the Solway Firth. Views are amazing
