About Hill House
Thanks! You'll receive an email as soon as the property answers your question.
Hill House was built in 1762, originally as a hotel and later a vintners. At the time the Royal Crescent was only half completed and Camden Crescent had not even been started. Indeed on the old maps we have soured our back door originally opened on to fields! We are uniquely places for visiting Bath as we are on the edge of the city being only 3 minutes from the Assembly Rooms and 5 minutes from the Royal Crescent by foot. Yet you can see Solsbury Hill ( as made famous by Peter Gabriel) from our windows.
You just have to read our reviews to find out how much we like to help our guests " live like a local " during their stay with us, to ensure that they get the best out of Bath. When you book, we will send you a link to our online guestbook so you can start to plan your stay in Bath. As you arrive, we will give you details of the Bath Reward Card which gives you some great discounts on many of the attractions of Bath. we will also go through what is new in Bath, whats on during your stay other useful tips. We work very closely with all the other independent traders of Bath to make our guest's stay as enjoyable as possible. We have a list of local independent restaurants on our website as well as local shops loved and frequented by our guests. The website also includes details of all the festivals, music and events happening in and around Bath for you to enjoy during your stay. If you cannot find what you are looking for just ask. Harry and Douglas are always willing to assist.
We are in the central zone of Bath and have a wealth of architecture for you to enjoy. Jane Austen used to watch a friend's daughter ride her pony in the Riding school behind us, Walter Sickert, a famous English painter, painted scenes from outside Hill House when he to visit his Uncle who lived opposite us; Nicolas Cage owned a property on the Circus (3 minutes away) and the Captain of Bath Rugby is a close neighbour! The narrow street with high Georgian townhouses are great to loose yourself in and we are happy to direct you to some of the of the places we love which are off the normal tourist trail. We are very lucky to be set between the three major Crescents of Bath, all within a 5 minute walk of Hill House. Lansdown Crescent is probably the most beautiful, especially at night, but is rarely found by tourists. Camden Crescent has carved elephants heads above each doorway and has amazing views over the city. And of course the Royal Crescent is the iconic architectural landmark of Bath. Despite being in the central zone of Bath you are only 10 minutes from the countryside. We are also ideally located as a base to explore the Cotswolds, Bristol, Somerset and beyond.
