Located in Mungrisdale, in a historic building, 17 km from Derwentwater Lake, Howe Top is a holiday home with a garden and barbecue facilities. The 4-star holiday home features garden views and is 23 km from Askham Hall. Near Howe offers an ideal, quiet and tranquil self-catering cottage retreat located in the heart of the Cumbrian countryside. Our seven tastefully converted high-quality self-catering cottages, provide the ideal answer if you are looking for that quiet, away from it all self-catering cottage holiday in the Lake District. There are great views in every direction and lots of spectacular walks to savour. A True Oasis of Peace and Tranquillity. Pets and children welcome.

Grisdale View, Howe Top and Howe End - Three cottages beautifully converted from an old Stable Block with views over the fells. The cottages have also all been completely refurbished and are furnished to a very high standard. Accommodation: Comfortable living room with dining area and fully equipped kitchen with WiFi internet access, flat screen digital TV/DVD, and video player, cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster. Bathroom - bath with electric shower over, W.C., wash basin and shaver socket, heater, fully carpeted throughout. Two bedrooms; one double and one with two single 2'6" beds which make into a double if need be. All beds have duvets. You will have the run of the large gardens at Near Howe with many secluded seating areas.

Howe Top occupies a stunning elevated position on a tree lined hill, giving it glorious 360 degree views out over arguably some of the most delightful countryside in the Lake District National Park. Near Howe enjoys a secluded location, but is within very easy reach of the A66, midway between the lovely Cumbrian market towns of Penrith and Keswick. Equally close at hand is Ullswater, topped and tailed by Pooley Bridge at the North and Glenridding to the South while in the opposite direction lies the picturesque village of Mungrisdale and further at 'Back o'Skidda' is Caldbeck, the former home of famous huntsman John Peel. All of this delightful countryside helps bring tourists to the area over an ever-increasing season. The surrounding area can provide many activities and pastimes, including golf, fishing, pony trekking, boating and walking, from the gentlest of rambles to the most strenuous of fell walks. For the not so energetic, Near Howe is the ideal base from which to tour the magnificent Cumbrian countryside and enjoy the scenic beauty of our lovely Lakeland.

From the East (North and South) - Penrith and the M6

Travelling West on A66 from the M6 Motorway (Junction 40)

• Continue 8 miles towards Keswick when you pass the turnoff to Troutbeck (A5091)

• Continue for approximately 1 mile and take the next right hand turn signposted Mungrisdale and Caldbeck

• Continue for approximately 1 mile to the sign for Near Howe is on the right hand side of the road

• The drive way crosses two fields, and then rises past an old ruin up to the top of the hill where you will find the property
