We really enjoyed our 2 night stay and would have been happy to extend it given the opportunity. The room was clean spacious and comfortable and given that they are built around the courtyard it felt as if we had our own patio outside.
All the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming and the food was well presented and delicious. The location in a peaceful country hamlet between Blandford and Wimbourne was perfect for a relaxing break and very dog friendly. An absolute gem.

Blandford Forum town centre is needing a bit of TLC like many English towns now.
Too many charity shops which is a sad reflection of local council management.
Wonderful town walk down to the river Stour though.
A few interesting restaurants would be an added attraction for all generations, as well.

Winterborne Houghton which is actually the village we stayed in. Blandford Forum is a 15 minute drive away. Houghton is a very pretty village with lovely gardens and houses. Lots of thatched properties. There is a fish farm which sells delicious fresh trout and Arctic charr. There is a pub which was very nice but we didn’t eat there so I can’t comment on the food. We walked to the pub, about a mile. Very friendly people.

It's a lovely town with a great museum, scenic river walks and nice cafes, restaurants and bars.
One thing to be aware of is that public transport is limited at weekends. There are no bus services to Shaftesbury or Salisbury or Yeovil on Saturdays and Sundays.

I am relocating back to Blandford (thru personal choice) so it can’t be too bad !
Few empty shops which is a shame, could do with a bit of upgrading of shops and facilities and I thought a cinema was in the pipeline, but no show yet!

The village of Kingston Zelston is very quiet and pretty, we were lucky enough to see a pair of geese by the river there with goslings. Although I didn't go into the church the outside is well kept looks as if it is well used.
We had a fantastic day at Monkey World and also an extremely enjoyable afternoon at Keyneston Mill Botanical Gardens & Bistro. Many other places of interest to visit, but sadly time didn't allow us to fit them in.
We will return there in the future.

The Crown is in a great location in Blandford. By the river, with lots of greenery in-between, you can imagine it being a magnet for tourists and locals alike come summer! (and there seemed to be decent room for resident parking, too). The hotel is vast, with various areas to eat and drink, each with a different feel. The bedroom was olde worlde, and given how cold it was outside, it was toasty warm and comfortable. All-in-all, a nice hotel to stop in with no complaints.
spacious and well equipped
ideal for central blandford large lounge and large kitchen diner
I stayed on my own but this has plenty of room for a family
the parking is free from 6pm till 8am and really close 10-15 metres so not far to take any bags
lots of places to eat and supermarkets close some supplies left coffee etc just a quick 2 minute walk to the riverside
This booking was made to facilitate the attendance at a funeral in Poole, while also enabling a visit to friends living in Blandford. The overnight at Saxon Inn worked extremely well after long motoring mileage on Friday and Saturday and I was able to enjoy a very restful night and excellent breakfast, which refreshed me for the 255 mile journey home to Shropshire.
Room decor was gorgeous and sensitive to the history of the building. The family suite was absolutely perfect with a large spacious main bedroom, a separate comfortable room with twin beds, a a beautiful bathroom. Breakfast was very generous and tasty. Perfect hotel for a family traveling and near to Durdle Door and the Bovington Tank Museum.
A thoroughly contemporary renovation with high quality fittings and conveniences. Powerful wi-fi and a smart TV. Location is central and super close to shops, cafes and pubs. Blandford Forum a very good location for exploring surrounding countryside. Very good value for money.
A very cosy and home from home type property! All staff were friendly and welcoming! Our room was spotless with nice touches. Breakfast was delicious! Would highly recommend staying here and it’s a perfect stop off point if you’re passing through Blandford!
This is a slightly old-fashioned hotel and I mean that as a compliment, not a criticism. It reflects the history and the character of the town in which it sits. The staff are friendly and efficient. The food was good and occasionally very good indeed.
Absolutely the best b&b I have stayed in. Wonderful owners who went out of their way to ensure our stay was perfect. Thank you for the Oat Milk! 😊
Blandford is a good base for exploring the coast and some pretty towns.
Clean room that was cleaned each day. Friendly pub below with decent pub food and good draught ales. Good location in village a mile away from Blandford and 30 minutes drive to Jurassic coast.
The farmhouse is well appointed and in a great and very quiet situation near Blandford Forum with lots of eating places within easy reach. Really nice breakfast. Very welcoming and friendly.
Excellent location in the centre of Blandford Forum, with free parking available.
Atmospheric Georgian rooms - a good experience.
Local beer available. Breakfast was good.
